DH and I can't choose between 4 names and interested in others thoughts. Middle name would be Archie.

Felix - would people associate this name with cat food?

Theo - we have another Theo in the family, but it's my BILs, sisters son who we don't see often. Not sure if naming our son Theo would seem odd in the family.

Arlo - not sure if this works with the middle name?

Finn - DH thinks one syllable first names don't work with our one syllable surname.

What are your thoughts just to get a different perspective? Thanks!

I like Felix.

BasiliskStare · 19/02/2024 17:58

I wouldn't worry about Felix and cat food for one second - nice name on of Ds's best friends is a Felix.
Theo - up to you (obviously :) not a huge fan
Arlo - I am not keen on but again - not my son not my choice
I quite like Finn.

FayCarew · 19/02/2024 18:21

Middle name Archie - doesn't really work as a middle name but middle names aren't used in daily life

Felix - cat food

Theo - done to death and I don't like it. I like Leo.

Arlo - I don't like it. It's so nothingy

Finn - don't know without knowing the surname

Onelife2024 · 19/02/2024 18:37

I like all of your choices! Theo is my favourite, as long as you don’t mind its popularity! A lovely name.

Finn is my second favourite, another great name. If a two syllable name works better with your surname, then how about Finlay?

Arlo is a good name, but as it’s shot up the name charts so quickly it’s more of a risk as to whether or not it will date well.

Felix is nice, as long as you don’t mind that some people associate it with cats (I still like it anyway).

fightingthedogforadonut · 19/02/2024 18:57

Felix - I think it's a bit more mainstream now so the cat food thing is less of an issue.

Theo - there's SO many Theo's out there. If you've already got one in the family, give your kid a different name.

Arlo - cat/dog name

Finn - DH thinks one syllable first names don't work with our one syllable surname - if that's an issue then can't you go with Finley and name him Finn for short?

Finn is my fav, followed by Felix

wherethemoon · 19/02/2024 18:57

Theo is SO overdone. Arlo and Finn very fashionable as well, and I think they don't go well with Archie as a middle name. Felix is a nice name and Felix Archie works well.

YourMommaWasASnowblower · 19/02/2024 19:03

Felix to me is definitely a cat.

Theo I like, but it’s quite popular, I wouldn’t worry about someone distant in the family being named it though.

Arlo in my mind is a bit chavvy.

Finn - I prefer Finley, but it wouldn’t go with Archie. Finn is a non-name on its own, and is a bit odd. Flynn might be better?

FortyFacedFuckers · 19/02/2024 19:05

Finn is my favourite but obviously can't comment on if it goes with the 2nd name

SkaneTos · 19/02/2024 21:03

They are all nice names!
I voted for Finn.

BoleynMemories13 · 19/02/2024 21:28

I love the name Finn. Impossible to comment on the flow with your surname without knowing what it is but I too was going to suggest Finley nn Finn, as I see others have. That could solve that issue.

I dislike Arlo and Felix (not because of cat food, I just don't like the sound. It's very posh).

Theo is nice, but it could be confusing for your sister to have two nephews called Theo so I would rule that out.

JLxx · 19/02/2024 21:31

Felix (for me personally) reminds me of the cat

Theo is beautiful, it goes so nicely with Archie - i wouldnt worry too much about the name being already somewhere in the family, especially if your husbands okay with it too.

Arlo I have always loved, but feel now that it's overused:(

Finn you dont hear of often , i like finn but dont find it goes well with Archie.

However, Theo Archie takes my fancy the most, two lovely names and they go together the best!!

RogueFemale · 19/02/2024 21:34

Didn't vote as I didn't like any of the names.

ODFOx · 19/02/2024 21:34

Arlo Archie ?

CharlieBoo · 19/02/2024 22:10

You don’t hear many Finn’s anymore, my son (19) knows a couple of Finn’s but not heard of any little ones lately.

Theo is a bit overdone, Theodore however is lovely but will inevitably be shortened.

Arlo feels a bit faddy

Felix, just can’t get past cat food but younger people won’t associate it with that. Doesn’t feel manly enough either for an adult

Mumofgirls2017 · 19/02/2024 22:13

Felix is great. I sort of agree all other points re reluctance. Felix Archie 😊

greendaisie · 19/02/2024 22:21

Theo and Finn are way overused

Felix is a well known cat food brand in the uk. We have a cat though

Arlo is the nicest imo

Porfirio · 19/02/2024 22:29

Felix.

theduchessofspork · 20/02/2024 07:22

I voted for Theo - it’s nice but there are a billion of them so in practice I wouldn’t use it

I just don’t like Felix for some reason

Arlo is v faddy and doesn’t go with Archie

Finn has also been way overdone

Archie is popular too, but not as much as Theo, could you use as a first name?
