we dont go for 'popular' names, so needs to not be in the top ten now or recently.

nothing too unusual either.

dh family has scottish roots. maybe something to influence?

As you have 2 and 3 syllable names already could you go for 1 or 4?

Claire (never hear any more)
Faye
Kate

Isabella
Georgiana
Luciana (love this)

Read altogether (ie in a Christmas card) a one syllable name goes best IM(very)HO

cheesesarnie · 25/03/2008 09:23

actually elle is quite nice and would sound nice with your girls names.

bozza · 25/03/2008 09:34

misdee I think you are deluding yourself that Lauren is not a popular name. There are 2 in my DS's class (he was born 2001) out of only 8 girls. So no reason to rule out popular names if you like them.

I think Imogen would go nicely with your girls' names, with that e and n theme.

I had a mate at school called Serena and her sister was called Celeste. Not very Scottish but it goes well with the others!

katierocket · 25/03/2008 09:40

zebedee1 · 25/03/2008 09:49

If you like Erin, how about Elan (that's welsh!) or Elin?
I love all pinkchampagne's ideas, you have great taste PC!

Pinkchampagne · 25/03/2008 22:54

Why thank you, zebedee! I have 2 boys myself, so have never named a girl, but love those names.

So here's what I notice about Nicole, Lauren and Serena: all begin and end with different sounds, two or three syllables, fairly English (Scottish OK too), not very modern, all have E and N in (!?), well known but not popular, sensible but feminine, not fluffy (suitable for a lawyer or doctor!), normal spellings

Here's some names I thought of that fit in with most of the "rules":

Caroline Bonnie Antonia Maxine Constance Yvonne Eleanor Florence
Francine Hester Andrea Lindsay Justine Jennifer Kathleen Moira
Penelope Teagan Gillian Kirsten Annabel

Dh and I are swithering over Mary atm.

As I'm scottish I would prefer Mairi (pronounced Mah-ri) or Mhairi (Vah-ri), but dh is English and prefers Mary.

There are a lot of Mairis up here though!

lilibet · 28/03/2008 10:55

I like Faith, easy to spell, uncommon and can be shortened to Fai which is also nice

Nbg · 28/03/2008 10:58

massive congratulations to you all.

chatee · 28/03/2008 11:02
