Have you met any baby Aidans recently?

Afak, the name is popular in places like Scotland and (N) Ireland, but not so much down South...?

I love the name but I'm 40+ yo. Am I missing something?

The youngest one I know is 5, don't know any younger.

CornflakesOnTheSolesOfHerShoes · 14/02/2024 17:23

I think my sister’s friend has a preschool aged one, in Yorkshire. He’s the only one I know of under 60 though!

Wow! I thought it was fairly popular early 00s (Sex and City era). So, many in their 20's/ late teens?

The only Aidan I know is late 40's.

Anjea · 14/02/2024 18:17

Don't know any

IdaPrentice · 14/02/2024 18:20

It's a lovely (Irish) name. Go for it.

olderthanyouthink · 14/02/2024 18:21

None

Easterness · 14/02/2024 18:35

All the baby boys are called Archie/Albie/Wilfred/Theo/Teddy or variations thereof in my neck of the woods

FayCarew · 14/02/2024 18:45

One, teenager but in the SW.
Lots of teenage Jaydens and Kaydens here in SE.

The little boys seem to be Noah or Raphael type OT names, or Alfie, Theo, Teddy, Arlo or Arthur.

Violettaa · 14/02/2024 18:52

I know 3 under about 6, in SE London. But they’re all from Muslim/ mixed families, because it’s a name that works in Arabic too.

aquarimum · 14/02/2024 18:54

I know one, mid/late primary.

SnapdragonToadflax · 14/02/2024 18:56

I don't know any. The only Aidan I know is early 40s.

LauderSyme · 14/02/2024 18:57

I'm in SE England and know quite a few teenagers called Aiden, Hayden, Kayden and Jayden. Nobody younger than 11 though.

Dottina · 14/02/2024 18:57

I know two. Both about 5/6yo

Equimum · 14/02/2024 18:58

I know one pre-schooler.......and about 4 10-11 year olds

Do most people group these names together - to me, Aidan is completely different than the other ones for some reason.

@seeyoulatergladiator , Aiden is more classy but they rhyme so they are tainted by the same brush.

HiCandles · 14/02/2024 19:12

Am in SE England in my early 30s. Don't know any now of any age but I went to school with one. I think Aidan is very different from Hayden/Jayden/Kayden, those are modern try hard American style names I'd say whereas Aidan is far more traditional and IMO a much nicer name.

LauderSyme · 14/02/2024 19:20

@seeyoulatergladiator I don't know if most people group them together - I am not even sure that I do really!

It's just that, as @FayCarew says, they rhyme, so when I thought of Aidan/Aiden I thought of the others! Am pretty sure that they are modern twists derived from the 'proper' name Aidan. I think the youngster I know spells it Aden.

MasterOfNobody · 14/02/2024 23:35

A friend just had a baby Aiden. I was really surprised when they announced the name as I hadn’t heard it in years. We are in London.

ClaraBean · 14/02/2024 23:38

I have a 15 month old and 16 and 18 year olds. I know a couple of Aidan's in the older dc's wider social groups but haven't come across any in my youngests baby groups.

EMJL · 15/02/2024 08:07

I don't know any and I work in childcare x
