OH is Greek, I’m British. We live in the UK but may move back to Greece in the future. Looking for a Greek name that isn’t too difficult in the UK and internationally. Have considered Alexandros, Dimitrios and Athanasius. Greek boy names are so long! Quite like Alex/Alexi. Please help!

How about Alekos? I love that name!

Theminer · 13/02/2024 21:40

I think they are all lovely!

Alexandros and Dimitrios are lovely (I prefer Dimitri) but I think Athanasius is tricky in the UK!

How about Nikos, Louka, Christos, Artemis, Haris, Constantinos (lots of shortenings) or Antonis?

Plenty of choice when it comes to Greek names and nearly all sound good in English too. Really like Alexandros and Dimitri - not too keen on Athanasios tho.
How about:
George
Andreas
Christos
Mario
Zacharias
Elias
Louka
Marko
Antonis
Artemis
Hector
Sergio
Nikos
Michael (Mihalis)
Yianni (John)

I love it. It not common but it’s easy to read and pronounce.

Theodore
Adonis
Ari
Adam
Stefano
Vasili
Marino
Jacob (Iacovos)
Pascalis

You call him George, a popular male name in Greece as I’m sure you know.

Alexandros nn Alexi is nice and will be easy enough in the UK

I love Alexandros except it reminds me of Spanish verbs because plural always os at the end (hermanos) sorry I’m obsessed with spanish

Alexandros is perfect. It reflects his heritage whilst giving him the ease of 'Alex' as a short form.

Thanks!! That was my feeling too!

I love it! I love most Greek names and think they fit in easily as once someone knows how to pronounce them they tend not to forget
