Our baby girl is imminent and will have a Henry as a big brother. What do you think out of Ada, Aida or Alice? I also love Delilah but that's a no from the DH!

I like Alice the best... I dislike how some people pronounce Aida as Ayda since I always heard it's EYEda. Ada is nice, but I pronounce it in romance language way.

xyz111 · 10/02/2024 17:13

I wouldn't know how to pronounce the first 2, so be prepared for people like me to say it wrong 🤣

SkaneTos · 10/02/2024 17:16

My favourite would be Ada.

About the name Aida, it makes me think of the tragic opera.

Onelife2024 · 10/02/2024 17:42

I love the name Alice - one of my favourite ever names! So that’s got to be top for me!

I also really like Ada - lovely, simple and good for all ages.

Aida - I also like this, you just might get some mispronunciation- if that matters to you?

mitogoshi · 10/02/2024 17:43

Alice, aida - love the opera, but not as a name

QueSyrahSyrah · 10/02/2024 17:43

I like Ada, second choice Alice.

Aida is a type of cross hatched fabric used for cross stitch so it just makes me think of that.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/02/2024 17:45

Aida as in the opera? No one will pronounce it correctly.

There are loads of Ada/Aidas under 10 so that’s not very likely…

I think they are both a bit overdone OP, and Ada is a bit harsh, and Alice a bit wet

How about Ida or Adela?

NameChange30 · 10/02/2024 19:56

Alice - it's a lovely timeless name.
Not that names have to match, but I think it goes well with Henry.

APurpleSquirrel · 10/02/2024 20:03

If DS had been a girl, he'd have been called Ada. Love the name, loved it since learning about Ada Lovelace.

DarlingClementine85 · 10/02/2024 20:05

I know a Henry and Alice sibling set so I vote that! Lovely traditional names, but not overdone.

DesertSnow · 10/02/2024 20:41

Ada

FayCarew · 10/02/2024 21:07

Alice
Ada is ok because of Lovelace but seems too close to Ava, which I don't like.
Aida - A-eeda like the opera or Aid-a like the cloth?

Miloandfreddy · 10/02/2024 21:09

Out of interest how are you pronouncing Aida?

Daffyyellow · 10/02/2024 21:13

Alice

MaloneMeadow · 10/02/2024 21:21

Alice - Pretty, elegant and a timeless classic

Ada and Aida are very of the moment and will date quickly

Nicebloomers · 10/02/2024 21:22

Alice with Henry

Previousreligion · 11/02/2024 08:04

I love Aida but only pronounced Eye-ee-da like the opera.

cheapskatemum · 11/02/2024 08:12

Alice is my favourite. I would pronounce Aida "Eye-ee-da" because of the opera, until corrected.
Ada reminds me of the Peaky Blinders character.

AndThatWasNY · 11/02/2024 08:15

For no good reason I do t like Alice, find it quite spiky.

Ada is beautiful.

Amazinggrace89 · 11/02/2024 08:25

Alice or Ada
Aida isn’t nice looking

WaltzingWaters · 11/02/2024 09:22

Ada.
Alice second choice.
it’s a no on Aida from me.

NCfor24 · 11/02/2024 09:27

Alice goes with Henry but for some unknown reason I find it a bit of a "meh" name. I don't dislike it, I feel nothing about it! It's the right type of name for your sibling pair though. Maybe similar ilk but different.... Eliza?

Miloandfreddy · 11/02/2024 10:54

My friend has an Aida.. but pronounces it A-da. I think Ada is much prettier written down.

BarelyLiterate · 11/02/2024 11:01

Ada is an old woman name, and not in a good way.

Aida is a bit odd, and it’s not obvious how it should be pronounced.

Alice is a lovely, classic name.
