Morgan or Leah?

Me and dh have got it down to two choices, I like Leah because it's very classic/timeless, and also has a strong history because it's biblical.

My dh loves Morgan but I'm not keen of it on a girl, it feels very 00s to me. I also think of more of a faddy American style name that was popular for a few years in the uk 20 years ago. (I'm aware it's a Welsh surname but it was very popaulr in US for girls according to statistics)
We will have to have a look at other names if we can't come to a compromise but I would appreciate people's thoughts on what name they prefer?

Morgan sounds quite dated to me.
I love the name Leah (my DD is Lia) and I still love her name as much 25 years later

FayCarew · 06/02/2024 17:42

Morgan fora girl seems very american. It's a boy's name. She'll be Morg.
Leah is OK but a bit dab and blends into all the Lily, Lyla, Layla type names.

FayCarew · 06/02/2024 17:50

drab not dab. It's a classic biblical name though and not overused.

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/02/2024 18:02

I know girls with both names. Like them both. Morgan is known as Morgie, lol.

BoleynMemories13 · 06/02/2024 18:14

I much prefer Leah out of the two. I just hear 'morgue' with Morgan, not a good association!

However, if neither of you like each other's choice it's a bit pointless us telling you which one we prefer as neither are the right name for you as a couple. Back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

Leah is a super name.

Morgan just reminds me of the make of car.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 06/02/2024 18:49

Love Leah.

yeah Morgan sounds American and nowhere near as nice as Leah.

kkneat · 06/02/2024 18:51

100 per cent Leah

Onelife2024 · 06/02/2024 18:52

I really like Leah - as you say, it’s got a classic feel but isn’t overused. I love how short, simple and pretty it is, but it works for all ages.

I agree with you that Morgan sounds more of an American name to me, and I’ve only heard it as a boy’s name in Wales. However I don’t hate it -but it’s got a very different feel to Leah!

Nicebloomers · 06/02/2024 19:07

Another in agreement that Leah is a better choice.

NotFastButFurious · 06/02/2024 19:18

Leah

itsmyp4rty · 06/02/2024 19:21

I prefer Leah, but prefer the spelling Lia.

FayCarew · 06/02/2024 19:55

The Lia spelling isn't classic.
