Struggling to settle on a first and middle name for our son. Which do you think is best out of these three?

Jack Olivier
Jack Alexander
Oliver Jackson

Worried if it's Jack people might call him Jacko which I'm not keen on but my daughter likes Jack.

Both Jack and Ollie go well with my daughter's name

congratulations! I like Jack Alexander.

Wolfpa · 04/02/2024 21:15

Oliver Jackson sounds like he will be getting 2 surnames

Onelife2024 · 04/02/2024 21:18

Jack Alexander is brilliant- gets my vote!

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 04/02/2024 21:18

Jack Alexander.

struggle with saying Olivier and not keen on Jackson

SaltyGod · 04/02/2024 21:20

Jack Alexander for me too.

Not a fan of Olivier or Jackson.

Jack Alexander is solid yet interesting.

Lululockwood · 04/02/2024 21:22

Jack Alexander

Don't like Oliver - always think it sounds a bit wet.

Jack is a nice name, though a bit unexciting. Prefer Alexander as a first name .

Mumofgirls2017 · 04/02/2024 21:55

I like Jack Alexander, wouldn’t worry about Jacko

ConcertaFirstTimer · 04/02/2024 21:58

I love Jack Alexander best. He could get called Jay - a contraction of JA, if you like that and want to avoid Jacko.

wellerhugs5 · 04/02/2024 22:13

Jack Alexander

TinyKittenPaw · 04/02/2024 22:17

I know several jacks, none of then are jacko’s
either of the first two are great, would avoid jackson.

BoleynMemories13 · 05/02/2024 06:34

Jack Alexander is lovely. I've never once heard any Jack being referred to as 'Jacko'. More likely with Jackson perhaps, as it was Michael Jackson's nickname, but not just Jack.

eggbot · 05/02/2024 06:34

Jack Alexander

I love Jack Alexander and he could get called Jackal - sweet.

Have you considerd John Alexander?

FayCarew · 05/02/2024 11:03

None of the middle names flow all that well.
I wouldn't be swayed by your daughter's choice of name.

Which goes best with the surname, Jack or Oliver?
Both names are common ones so chances are they'll be Jack/Oliver Surname most of the time.

sunflowerpinks · 05/02/2024 12:32

Hopefully you have an uncommon surname! Otherwise it will be very difficult for your ds to be identified easily.

RosesAndHellebores · 05/02/2024 12:40

I prefer John (nn Jack) Alexander.

I'm old enough to remember when all those names were uncommon!

Barleysugar86 · 05/02/2024 12:43

I've voted for Jack Olivier as the middle name is a bit more unusual with the spelling. Alexander is a very common middle name for boys- its lovely so makes sense- but I wouldn't put it with such a popular first name. My husband has two very common names and a not uncommon surname and we have had debt collectors wrongly chasing him for others debts and all sorts, so I wouldn't recommend this.

LordSnot · 05/02/2024 12:45

Olivier is horrible and Jackson is a surname. Jack Alexander is fine. I've never known anybody called Jacko?!

useitorlose · 05/02/2024 12:47

My great nephew is 2 and he's Jack Alexander so that gets my vote. As a teacher in the 00s I often had multiple Jacks in my classes but I think it's being edged out by less traditional names.

FayCarew · 05/02/2024 12:57

Jack was the no. 1 name for boys in the late 1990s and 2000s. They're everywhere.

sunflowerpinks · 05/02/2024 14:19

I know, it can really be a pain! Also difficult to be identified/found: How can I increase the likelihood that someone looking for my name will actually reach me? How do I make sure that whoever wants to tag me in a post and give me credit will actually tag me and not someone else with the same name?…What f i set up a business and want clients to fine me??

sunflowerpinks · 05/02/2024 14:19

I know soooooo many Jacks and Olivers!

Mybusyday · 05/02/2024 16:39

Jack Alexander - a good solid name. I don't think it will get changed to Jacko. Congratulations btw

Loudippity · 05/02/2024 22:03

Jack Alexander the others are trying too hard
