Floral middle name for Ida

Looking for a floral/flowery middle name for DD2. Her first name will be Ida.

DD1’s middle name is Primrose.

Iris and Rose are ruled out.

I don’t like popular flower names like Poppy or Lily.

We had considered Olive as a back up, but I’d prefer a flower name like DD1 has.

Please inspire me, she’ll be here in 5 weeks!

Amaryllis - almost the same as hippeastrums, and I think they are the same as belladonna lilies. Greek word, meaning to sparkle, and there is also a Greek myth attached, of course!

Alstromeria
Azalea
Zinnia
Anastasia

I love Amaryllis as a name, but I don't like the two vowels together.

I’m really hoping some of the suggestions on here are a joke. Daffodil? Snapdragon? Jesus.

Ida Daphne is a mouthful, wouldn't choose anything beginning with D. Marigold is nice and goes well with primrose. But do you love marigolds? Peony would be my choice.

DramaAlpaca · 01/02/2024 03:38

Violet or Jasmine were my first thoughts, based on Ida being pronounced the Scandi way - EE-da. That's kind of cool, whereas the English EYE-da really isn't.

Mumofgirls2017 · 01/02/2024 04:57

Ida marigold
ida clementine
ida lavender
ida bluebell
ida magnolia
Ida jessamine

MariaVT65 · 01/02/2024 05:46

Sorry but a marigold to me is a washing up glove

fightingthedogforadonut · 01/02/2024 09:37

My favs are:

Ida Violet
Ida Primrose
Ida Jasmine

I'd avoid flowers that also end in A. (Ida Dahlia, Ida Camelia) etc because they don't flow well.

DesertSnow · 01/02/2024 09:44

I think Ida Jessamine is so pretty

Jesus isn’t a flower, I don’t think.

At this point I think posters are just yelling “name of plant I’ve heard of that hasn’t been mentioned yet!”

Ida Cow Parsley
Ida Rhododendron

I actually love the name Ida (and thought the down/thoughtso post was funny!), but it doesn’t lend itself to a flowery middle name. Not that people use the names together outside of doing a full name telling off. But maybe “Fleur” as a pp suggested works – a nod to the floral theme without going full flower against a scullery maid name? (This isn’t a scullery maid name diss; my kids are the equivalent of, like, Edna, Mavis, Ethel type names, I love them. The names, that is. The DC I’m meh about.)

KirstenBlest · 01/02/2024 12:04

An Ida will need a sense of humour. Watch the initials don't make it sound like a phrase - Ida P. sounds like I'd a pee.

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 01/02/2024 13:37

Ida Lily flows so nicely

DoggusDomesticus · 01/02/2024 17:25

Ida Viola
Ida Jasmine
Ida Gardenia
Ida Pansy
Ida Fern
Ida Briar

nameXname · 01/02/2024 17:39

Ida Jessamy (I also prefer the Ee-da pronunciation)
Ida Myrto (nicer than the English 'Myrtle')
Ida Angelica (a very pretty plant)

Not flowers, but what about longer classical names such as Atlalanta, Calisto, Hermione, Arethusa etc etc....

trainboundfornowhere · 01/02/2024 21:11

Lotus
Larkspur
