Following on from my Titanic Post.....

  1. Matilda Rose or Rose Matilda (someone I know has a Matilda but not sure if I can use, don't know if I can bare to not use)
  2. Sofia Rose (Love the Greek/Spanish links)
  3. Serafina Rose (Love meaning fiery ones)
  4. Tiana Rose (Again Greek link, love meaning aside from the Disney links)
  5. Athena Rose (Love the warrior meaning and Greek links)
  6. Some outlier biblical names; Delilah Rose, Eden Rose
Love Greek and Spanish names in addition to name Rose. But not sure of which. Look forward to some guidance.

Matilda Rose is lovely

Onelife2024 · 30/01/2024 17:41

My favourites are Sofia Rose and Rose Matilda. They are the ones that pass the test for me of names I’d like to be called as an adult.

The others sound a little fussy for my personal tastes, but are pretty.

NachosAndCheese · 30/01/2024 18:31

Honestly? Rose is the most overused middle name out there. Along with Grace and
May is the ultimate filler middle name. Every girl is a something Rose. Every Matilda will be a Matilda Rose.

I like Delilah and Serafina.

BoohooWoohoo · 30/01/2024 18:38

If the middle name is Rose or Matilda then definitely go for Matilda. Middle name Rose is everywhere so your daughter’s name will date in the same way that Louise was the middle name of choice in the 80s. I noticed that you said someone you “ know” rather than friend or family. I wouldn’t let someone I know stop me from choosing a baby name.
If you’re in the UK Sofia will often be mistaken for Sophia imo. Great name but it would annoy me.
I like your other names except Tiana which will attract comments about Disney. I think that this would annoy your dd if —when— she goes through anti-Disney Princess phases of her life

@NachosAndCheese The name Rose has personal meaning to me. I know lots of people probably say that, but it genuinely does. Im not going to not use something meaningful just because Rose is used a lot as a middle name.

@BoohooWoohoo I was thinking Rose Matilda for that reason. With my other children I call them by both their first and middle name (haven't double barrelled but still use both names all the time and so does their school). So she would be Rose Matilda every day. It is a friend that's used Matilda but we don't see each other often.

If you cannot bear not to use Matilda, you have your answer really. Go Mstilda Rose.

marshmallowfinder · 30/01/2024 18:59

Athena is nice.
(It's bear, not bare, OP. Bare always means naked or uncovered!) Sorry to mention it, but I've seen it so much and can take it no more.☹️

Nicebloomers · 30/01/2024 19:09

Rose Ines
Paloma Rose
Viviana Rose
Lucia Rose
Marcela Rose
Rose Alba

helloitsmeyourlookingfor · 30/01/2024 19:21

@Nicebloomers Thank you. Love Alba - heard it on Jamie Johnson on BBC and adored it. But doesn't work with my surname sadly. The second half of Alba Is the start on my surname, so repeated sound.

I love Seraphina (I had a fantastic cousin Seraphina)

I love Athena - prefer Athene probably.

Matilda is nice too, albeit an bit overdone.

Delilah is too fussy, Sofia way overdone, Eden’s gone a bit Hello mag and Tiana really does sound low rent.

I like Rose but she’ll probably end up another Rosie as a first name.

Matilda Rose is perfect

Tamika Rose
Imogen Rose
