Liam

So Owen is definitely winning which is interesting. I'm haven't lived in the UK for several years but we'd like to return before he'd start reception so it's good to get a feeling for names.

In N America Liam is incredably popular at the moment and Owen is having a bit of a moment but much less so. Both are considered good though.

@NoDefinatelyNotThankyou I adore Adam but know far to many. A Lewis, Louis or Louie could be good and DH is a huge fan if the royal family so would love that.

Thank you also

Liam is supposed to be a nn for William, which I like. Don't like Liam though.
Owen is nice, or someone suggested Evan, which I also like.

Doublebiscuit77 · 26/01/2024 16:58

Liam was very popular in the UK in the 90s/00s. Judging by past threads lots of people think its moment has passed. The only very young Liams i know in the UK have Irish heritage and Irish surnames. I have always loved the name regardless! It's a beautiful sound (i much prefer it to the harder Leo, which is very popular in the UK now).

Sandysandwich · 26/01/2024 17:01

Liam, I like it short for William and as a name on it's own.

randomname7 · 26/01/2024 17:01

I've just had a boy and called him Liam so obviously I like it.

This.
Owen is OK but I think of it more of a surname than a first name.
Lloyd is nice.

Onelife2024 · 26/01/2024 17:06

I like both!

I think I like Liam best, but it’s close!

I also like pp suggestion of Evan. Other ideas would be Eli or Zach?

telestrations · 26/01/2024 17:26

@Onelife2024@KnickerlessParsons@warmmfeet The suggestion of Evan is growing on me.

@Doublebiscuit77 We are of Irish heritage and he will have an Irish surname. Thats my only concern with the name, a bit too Irish for someone who has only one great grandfather. But in N America it's just a normal name

The full name would be something similar to.... (Middle name a family name not up for debate, but fine as it has a very special meaning and I love it)

Liam Zvonimir Sullivan
Owen Zvonimir Sullivan

AnEmbarrasmentofWitches · 26/01/2024 17:27

Evan is lovely

ColdButSunny · 26/01/2024 17:28

Liam (short for William which I also love)

ChanelNo19EDT · 26/01/2024 17:29

Yeh William, Liam for short so much better than Owen.

SuperFurryCat · 26/01/2024 17:29

I prefer Owen, but I do also like Liam.

SpicyMargaritaPlease · 26/01/2024 17:33

Liam. Definitely Liam.

LlynTegid · 26/01/2024 17:34

Liam would make most people think of the younger Mr Gallagher.

User6761 · 26/01/2024 17:34

Owen was on our short list, really like it. Surprisingly underused. Also really like the suggestion of Evan.

Other names I like incase we have similar taste: Matthew, Caleb, Reuben, Abel, Alexander, Euan, Fraser.

Oh yes I hadn't thought of that! Though nothing wrong with a bit of Oasis now the 90s and the battle of Brit Pop is over. I was only a kid but preferred Blur at the time.

Its actually Liam Neeson who inspired the name. DH is a big fan

Euan is a great suggestion
