Down to our final two choices with baby arriving next week.

Tommy or Aksel?

Not a fan of Axel anyway but that spelling is awful.

Tommy, but with Thomas on his birth cert.

I think unless you’re from a country that spells is aksel people will assume you’re trying too hard to be unique with that spelling. They’re very different names. I’d go Thomas out of the two, but not Tommy on the BC. I think axel will date.

Of those two, Tommy for definite! I’d use Thomas or Tom on the birth certificate though.

I don't really like either. Is Aksel from another country/culture?

Love Aksel. One of my favourite Scandinavian names :)

Aksel is Scandi and is nicer than Axel but he will be correcting the spelling (and Axel is a bit of a naughty boy name).

Thomas is nice and gives the option of Tommy without limiting him to it.

Ooh I like Aksel if it links to your heritage, it’s nice.

Thomas is a lovely name with Tommy as a nn.

I personally would choose Thomas nn Tommy but I don’t have Scandi heritage

I know a little Acel, which I think is the French version of Axel, but I like Axel too. Or Aksel.

Thomas which you can’t shorten to Tommy. Tommy is a bit babyish so think of high school, work, CV etc.

I love Aksel, I have a bit of a soft spot for the Norwegian skier aksel lund svindal though 😂

tommy is awful though as an actual name, as a nickname fair enough but go with ideally Thomas, or maybe Tom.

Aksel only if you don't mind people always asking how to spell it (or spelling it Axel) and where it's from. Which you may not mind at all!

Though all I see is Askel for some reason - rhymes with rascal!

I would use Axel if that is the spelling in the country of your child's birth.

Thomas on birth certificate and Tommy as a nn. I knew an adult Tommy once and it honestly made him sound babyish for want of a better word.

It's Axel in french, girls can be named Axelle which I think is cool but a little old fashioned.

I understand Aksel is a scandi spelling but in my mind it sounds like Akselllllllll with a long stress for some reason. Personally I would do Axel but I'm a huge guns and roses fan (Axl would be too literal).

Is it pronounced the way I've spelled it, at least? Or is it a completely different name?!? The child is definitely a boy and it's definitely pronounced a-cell. Stress on the cell!
