DH and I love it, it became an idea after watching a fascinating doc about Hedy Lamarr. Pronounced Head-ee.
We are both French and English speaking and DH thinks in England a daughter would be likely to get unpleasant jokes made about it.
Thoughts?

I knew a Hedy. As far as I know she wasn’t teased. Mind you she’d be the type to give someone a snack if they did. She’d be late 40s now

Mumsnet is Mad sometimes! It's a perfectly reasonable and nice name. It will likely grow in popularity with Hey Lamaar. People are so unkind. Absolutely no negative connotations come to mind. Not everyone has go be an Ivy or Oliver!

Hedy Lamarr was an amazing woman. I love it. As for op on here - 'slaggy'??? Wtf is wrong with you?

I LOVE Haddie as well though!

JanewaysBun · 18/01/2024 19:44

To honour the woman you could use her middle name - Eva? (As in ayva)

It would pass as a nn for Harriet / Henrietta and that’s what I’d do, so if it’s not working you can drop it

Just think heady, as in headaches

This just popped up on my FB feed. Anniversary of her death ( plus a bio for those who who don't seem to know who she was.)

Immediately made me think of blowjobs. I assumed I was pronouncing it wrong, but I’ve just read I’m not

This.
Please don't.

Love this name and the association with Hedy Lamarr.
Thought it was more Hay-thee than Hed-ee.
I also love Édith, Édie, Aideen, Hayley.
