Emma or Ellie. Chloe seems a bit last decade to me.

NachosAndCheese · 02/01/2024 10:14

Ellie is so overused, at one point it felt like every girl was an Ellie-May or Ellie-Rose.

I like Emma, Chloe or Lilah but spelt Lyla. It does feel like Chloe has had it’s time as a few years back it was everywhere.

MerryChristmasToYou · 02/01/2024 10:25

Babies called Chloe in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com)
Chloe was hugely popular in the late 1990s.

The figures for Ellie will seem more stable because a lot of Ellies will have a BC name like Eleanor, Eliana, Elodie, Eloise

I really like all of these

Emma is beautiful and classic so probably my favourite
Margot is becoming very popular, if that bothers you

Other suggestions: Elodie, Eloise, Mila

Theoldwoman · 02/01/2024 13:59

Emma

Jessieshome · 02/01/2024 15:07

Emma and Ellie, are very pretty, lovely names, have been for centuries but they are also extremely popular and have been for decades.

How are you pronouncing Lilah? Lye-luh, Lee-lah, Lee-luh, Lill-ler, Lill-lah....? I'd assume Lill-ler but I think it might be Lye-luh, which I think it is nicer spelled Lyla.

I really like Margot.

I have always loved Chloe and always fancied calling a daughter Chloe after a character I like in Home and Away in the 90's!

Riley is awful.

Good luck!

peaceinourtime · 02/01/2024 15:48

None to be frank. If you go with Lilah please leave if the h at the end, it looks tacky people adding a h to the end of names that really don’t need it.

Goldenretrievermum · 02/01/2024 17:10

Riley - chavvy, sorry!
Emma - very pretty and classic, definitely due a reboot and feels fresh again. My favourite of your list
Ellie - Really like
Lilah - not bad but not great
Margot - nice but it’s faddy and overused at the minute
Chloe - dated

Pemba · 02/01/2024 17:19

Imo Lilah is the best spelling, I suppose the 'H' on the end comes from using it as a diminutive of Delilah? So not random then. I also like the spelling Lila, although you might be more likely to get a pronunciation of 'Lee-la' rather than 'Lye-la' from that.

I don't like the spelling Lyla, just because I don't think it looks so pretty written down.

salamithumbs · 03/01/2024 23:21

My favourite is Lilah (or Lila) and I think Ellie, Chloe and Emma are nice too. Really dislike Margot and Riley, sorry!

user1477391263 · 04/01/2024 12:00

Riley is awful. “For the love of Riley!!” Very tacky. Lilah will get endless variations on the spelling and pronunciation. Ellie is drippy sounding and SO overused.

I don’t like Chloe or Emma but there is nothing objectively wrong with them. Margot is OK.

I’d probably go for Margot if I had to choose one of these.

DesertSnow · 04/01/2024 12:21

Margot

Falkenburg · 04/01/2024 12:25

Riley - awful.
Emma - nice name nothing special.
Ellie - pretty name. Not so good if genetically she might be a bit of a heffalump.
Lilah - ok-ish
Margot - lovely name.
Chloe - a bit of a 'mean girl' name.

MariaVT65 · 04/01/2024 12:25

They are all lovely, i’d just avoid Ellie as it’s so common right now. I know several toddler Ellies.
