I am so stuck. I have girls' names galore, please give me nice slightly arty boys' names that won't get hugely popular in a year or two

Petroc
Kester
Diccon
Florian

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:36

it couldn't be peregrine, could it?

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:36

i knew a priest called kester.

LOLOLOLOLOL at diccon. oh god please NO.

snice · 16/03/2008 23:37

Just Googled him-he's really a Rupert

harpsichordcarrier · 16/03/2008 23:40

oh franny will love it
I really wanted it but dh said much the same as you
though as I had two girls, it was all somewhat hypothetical

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:40

boo. Pen is a cool name, i think.

Aitch · 16/03/2008 23:41

he'd be known as strap-on at school. giving you girls was god's way of preventing this, you know...

harpsichordcarrier · 16/03/2008 23:45

H you have a filthy mind....

AnotherFineMess · 16/03/2008 23:56

Brain is boggled by gazillion posts - read F&Z likes OT names somewhere - has anyone suggested Noah or Isaac?

MrsJohnCusack · 16/03/2008 23:59

Piran
Ezra
Josiah
Edmund

Aitch · 17/03/2008 00:07

edmund was a little sod in narnia, though... other than that i like it.

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 08:29

LOLOL at pet rock
sorry Dickon is a little Seth-ish for me

I still like Arlo but none of these are CLICKING, I need a hallelujah moment

ds's name keeps popping up

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 08:30

Franny - I'm sure you'll come up with a name that you both love - dh and I never had a boy's name that we agreed upon, so it's just as well we had two girls! But now finally we have come up with a boy's name that we both love, will go well in english and flemish and sounds great with dh's surname, so Im' really happy

casbie · 17/03/2008 09:00

sebastian
stefan
benjamin
joseph
euan

harpsichordcarrier · 17/03/2008 09:06

Blue

MrsJohnCusack · 17/03/2008 09:15

Arlen (but prob won't work with surname)

harpsichordcarrier · 17/03/2008 09:16

oh go on, what about Petroc
(PMSL at Arlen with surname)

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 09:17

yup 'en' and 'on' names not always great
Lucien seems ok for some reason - do you think so HC? Lucien XXXXXX?

blue is a dog's name surely
it's better than pet rock though

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 09:18

actually I think I may just need a new SURNAME
then I could have loads of names! hoorah

OP posts:
harpsichordcarrier · 17/03/2008 09:18

Lucien is fine, isn't it?
I think it is the soft S
what about Italian names?
Luca?
Alessio?

harpsichordcarrier · 17/03/2008 09:20

this is why I am so keen on Petroc - this guy just has the most delicious voice ever
I have the same problems with my surname franny.

harpsichordcarrier · 17/03/2008 09:22

Adrio?
have you tried looking at lists of Saints?
that is a rich source of poncy unusual names

FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 09:22

I don't think we could pull of something Italian

or pet rock Petroc

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 17/03/2008 09:23

yes I think saints is a good idea
I want one I have heard of though

you know this thread is skating close to the edge as people are COMMENTING on names I like and may well choose

I won't forget Avi hates Blaise if I ever use it, for instance
