I am so stuck. I have girls' names galore, please give me nice slightly arty boys' names that won't get hugely popular in a year or two

Overrun - only trouble with Sidney is that all the chavs would think he was conceived in Australia and his mum can't spell!

evie99 · 16/03/2008 09:29

Yes very scary but would have been handy for my third DS.

fortyplus · 16/03/2008 09:30

Rollo

1st Duke of Normandy... seen it once or twice in the Times birth announcements.

FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 09:35

now ds's name has been mentioned about a dozen times, which is GOOD
it reassures me that it is a slightly arty name that people still find not entirely common
and that you are all on the right lines

I do like Leander
I thought of another one I like except dp says no:

Blaise

so keep going along the lines of Blaise, Dante, Sacha, but not TOO outre and not too posh

I do like Pericles actually Avi! It's grown on me. We know a Hector and we know a Theodor, so they're out. I like Inigo but I thought it was pronounced "Een-ee-go"

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 16/03/2008 09:35

or "In-ee-go" perhaps

Wynn. Only ever met one, and I really like it. Welsh, means 'white' IIRC.

Boco · 16/03/2008 09:39

Blaise is a bit like Blouse.

I do know a boy called Fox, it suits him, and it's the next best thing to Wolfie.

Third best would therefore be Badger.

beaniesteve · 16/03/2008 09:41

Stanley?

blueshoes · 16/03/2008 09:45

Tristan

bogie · 16/03/2008 09:56

Justin

WanderingTrolley · 16/03/2008 09:57

I am gutted you're not going for Clive.

wheelybug · 16/03/2008 09:57

I think Hector is an ace name but it doesn't go with our surname, DH didn't like it and we had a girl

The Christies who own Glyndebourne have 3 sons called Ptolemy, Hector and Augustus and then a daughter called Louise which seemed a bit out of place !

pointedegg · 16/03/2008 09:57

Rimbaud

Tomsk

Orinoco

Haribo

pointedegg · 16/03/2008 10:12

well, 'girly' does seem to be a leitmotiv here

ZippiBabes · 16/03/2008 10:13

my ds name sounds perfectly normal and yet is quite uncommon for kids these days

pointedegg · 16/03/2008 10:13

ZippiBabes · 16/03/2008 10:17
