We recently found out we are having a baby boy and we are really stuck for names.
DH likes traditional names that I find a bit too normy / popular e.g. Daniel, Theodore.
I like names that are maybe more European, less popular, but not super new or modern e.g. Milo, Sol.

Names we don't like:
Arlo, Albie, Ruben, Bodie (too modern)
Elijah, Oscar, Noah, Zachariah (too! overtly biblical)

Girls names we agree on and love if they help:
Anaïs
Elise
Lyra

Surname will be Fawcett. Any and all suggestions welcome!

Classic names but less commonly used

Arlo and Reuben are both pretty old names (Reuben is Biblical though) and Oscar is not Biblical.

Maybe:
Felix
Maxim
Nico (as a nickname for Nicholas?)
Otto
Hugo
Casper
Rollo
Jude
Nate
Rowan
Florian
Ludo
Otis
Axel

Daniel, Theodore. - Daniel ok but a bit 'safe', Theodore far too overused and I don't like it
Milo, Sol - not keen but they're not awful

Ruben - from the Old Testament, so not modern
Oscar - not biblical

obvious one would be Miles nn Milo
Others: Samuel, Sebastian, Matthew, Solomon, Leo

Oliver

Thanks so much for your ideas! They're definitely on the right track.

We both like Lucian (but a bit grandiose maybe?), Maxim, Casper but not 100% sure.
DH likes Felix, Jasper, Ben.
I like Miles and Hector.

Thanks doublebiscuit77, I know someone who spells it Ruben but I did know Reuben is the correct spelling!

I second Nicholas/Nico - suits both your requirements.

Lucas
Jago
Seth
Silas
Austin
Lincoln/Link
Archer/Archie

One- or two-syllable names are good with your surname.

Robert
Richard
Charles
Frank
Lawrence
Glen
Thomas

Re. comments about Oscar, I added this name to that category after I've said biblical - I know it's not but it has the same feel as Noah for me.

We have an Adrian Matthew. Classic, but also very European and not in the top ten lists anywhere.

You seriously can't go for Felix Fawcett. Always trying saying the names together as well as writing them down

If you both like Maxim, I’d go for that - it’s a brilliant name!

redlavender · 16/12/2023 17:15

Clara Fawcett

Quentin Fawcett

And no, you really can't have Felix Fawcett!

Fraaahnces · 16/12/2023 17:22

A friend of mine has Helio (boy) Ares (boy) Estrella (girl) and Novalis (boy)
I also love Stella, Clara and Kiki for girls.
My eldest DD is Mimi
Claire means “light” in French, Celeste = “Celestial”
Greta and Nova are gorgeous too.
For boys I love Maxim, Misha, Mika and Magnus.

DuchessOfSausage · 16/12/2023 17:25

Farrah for a girl, Walter for a boy

My chihuahuas were named Dario and Helio.

Not sure either name fits well with Fawcett but I do like them.

Maxim Fawcett isn't bad.
