The blob at birth has grown into the Blob meister as a toddler.

She can call him that but it wouldn't go down to well when trying to apply for a serious job as an adult would it?

And what if he has a nut allergy?! That would be too cruel

REIDmylips · 17/03/2008 21:40

dh often calls our ds Ted (as in Teddy Bear) yet this is not his name! as if being a toddler isnt confusing enough

Peanut as a nickname is lovely... As a real name is bordering on criminal!!!

My DSDs have had various nicknames - from fuitloop to cupcakanator... but they still have real names...

Now, I feel glad knowing that 'bump' is a boy, and we've already given him a name.... thankfully, peanut, Mr. Bump and blobby are off the agenda!!

barnstaple · 17/03/2008 21:51

We had a 'proper' set of names (3!) for dd while she was a bump. One look at her told us we were wrong. We called her Pebbles until we could find the right name for her. Took me a while to adjust, and I wish I never had, though she is grateful.

Yet another reason why people should find out the sex of the baby they are carrying - so they can start calling it by a real name while in the womb

duomonstermum · 17/03/2008 21:59

the bump was called ota because combined with DS's name became the make of a car. took ages to call DD by her proper name and she still gets called everything but

DS has been everything from foo man choo to munster. i am now only allowed to refer to him as munster if we're alone at home. he says at 10 he shouldn't need a nickname muchless one we've used since he was a baby :-(
