Clara & Darcy or Adeline & Isabelle

EMswan · 11/12/2023 15:59

I'm 28 weeks pregnant with twin girls and really struggling for names.

I like Clara and Darcy as a pair and I like Isabelle and Adeline as a pair but not sure I love either combo.
I also like the names Madeline, Isabella and Amelia but don't really love any.
Middle names will be a combination of Elizabeth, Emily, Mary and Jane and the surname is Swan. Any ideas or preferences for the thoughts I've got would be appreciated!!

I like all of these. Clara and Darcy work really well together in my opinion

How do we feel about Isabella and Amelia?
I'm totally willing to overlook the twilight link as that doesn't bother me at all.
My name is Emily so I worry Amelia and Emily are too close for the same house!

I think Isabel and Amelia sounds better or if you want Isabella I would choose Clara, Madeline or Adeline to go with it. Isabella and Amelia sound too flowery together.

verabarbleen · 11/12/2023 17:18

I think Isabelle and Darcy sound pretty together I'm not much help I also think Clara and Adeline sounds great together too . All pretty names! Congratulations

GreatGateauxsby · 11/12/2023 17:21

I like Amelia and Adeline.

KirstenBlest · 11/12/2023 17:22

@Ontopofthesunset, I'm baffled by why this name became a popular girl's name.

Clara and Madeleine.

MistyCoco · 11/12/2023 17:28

I would swap Adeline for Emmeline

helpmum2003 · 11/12/2023 17:28

I'd go for Clara and Amelia or Madeline and Isabella.
I think you can get away with Emily and Amelia.
I'm not keen on Darcy. It's a surname and I'm not into surnames as first names but know many are.

My partner has just suggested
Bella and Clara - any thoughts there?

Chipsandbeansandcheese · 11/12/2023 17:36

Bella is a dogs name. Literally every dogs name.

Really like Clara.

Jemimapinotduck · 11/12/2023 17:36

Isabel Jane swan
Clara Emily/Mary swan

Talipesmum · 11/12/2023 17:38

I really like Bella and Clara, but even though I’ve never read or watched any twilight, even i know Bella Swann is the name of the main character - it’s a bit like naming your child Hermione Grainger or Elizabeth Bennett.
OTOH it would make it impossible to google her when she’s older, which could be a plus!

@KirstenBlest It doesn't really explain on there why Darcey Bussell started calling herself that, when her original name is Marnie?

Or are you saying that baby girls are being named after her? Not really sure about that, as I thought the name was also popular in the USA? I could be wrong though.

I like Clara and Darcy but there’s too much ‘ar’ together.

How about alliterative names?
Clara and Constance
Darcy and Delilah

I'd avoid that, sharing a date of birth and an address could be annoying enough without sharing an initial as well.

Playdoughcaterpillar · 11/12/2023 17:45

Isabelle and Madeline are nice together. Same length so they match. Izzy and Maddy for short

KirstenBlest · 11/12/2023 17:58

@Pemba , she was on a prime time TV show for a few years and people associate the name with her. Darcey was one of her names and the surname is that of her stepfather.

If a celebrity has an unusual name, it sometimes starts a trend. The baby isn't named after the celebrity but the name is seen more positively. Theo for example wasn't much used until Theo Walcott joined Arsenal in 2006.

If I said Audrey, you might subconsciously think Audrey Hepburn and consider it elegant but I think Audrey Roberts.

There was a tv news reporter called Elodie, and that probably brought the name onto people's radar.
The name Britney had a spike in 1999. Smile

Alarae · 11/12/2023 18:02

My vote is for Isabelle and Clara.

I have one of the first and my hypothetical second daughter would be a Clara.

The names to me 'go together' but are different sounding so not to be matchy (which Isabella and Amelia does sound to me due to the same syllable ending).

Doublebiscuit77 · 11/12/2023 18:04

CocoPlum · 11/12/2023 16:38

@Doublebiscuit77 I've always felt like it looks like the 'le' has fallen off the spelling of Isabel 😆
But then I have a name (first and surname!) that can be spelled with or without certain letters - mine is with and the "without" variations look like they're missing something to me ... I guess I just like to use all available letters!

I know what you mean! I once worked with a Khayleigh - it looked really odd to me at first and then i got so used to it it now looks a bit blank without the 'h'!

3peassuit · 11/12/2023 18:05

Isabelle and Clara are lovely.

Doublebiscuit77 · 11/12/2023 18:08

In Twilight Isabella Swann is shortened to Bella so I'd avoid it.

recklessgran · 11/12/2023 18:14

What about Romilly, do you like that?
Clara & Romilly SWAN sounds fine to me.

Seamist22 · 11/12/2023 18:37

Love the Izzy and Maddie combo (Isabelle and Madeleine)

Also love Clara with Isabelle or Madeleine

Not so keen on Bella or Darcy

Congratulations!

Theduchy · 11/12/2023 18:40

Another vote for Isabel and Clara. That's a beautiful combination.

RecycleThie · 11/12/2023 18:42

Isabella/Bella Swan is no good. She’s such a famous character- it would be lifetime if people making stupid jokes. It also sounds a bit like “is a bell a swan?”
