I really like the name Kester but I already have a Casper. I can’t decide if it’s too similar. Thoughts?

Do you have a brother called fester ?

Do you have a brother called fester ?

And a cousin called Chester?

ChanelNo19EDT · 09/12/2023 10:53

No, too similar. Even Lester would be a S heavy but it'd be ok. Wdyt of Lester

ChanelNo19EDT · 09/12/2023 10:55

What about Victor
Casper and Victor are both strong in their own way

namechangenanny · 09/12/2023 10:55

It's a no from me. It just doesn't sound nice and doesn't look great written down either (to me). A name should be for life and I just can't picture a 45 yr old Kester. To me it sounds a little rough sorry OP. Up there with the Jayden and Kayden kind of names for me.

ChanelNo19EDT · 09/12/2023 11:02

Casper and Roscoe ? Still a bit matchy match!

Or Casper and Patrik -slight germania influence. In in fact names like Niklas, Patrick, Frederik all work as a brother to a Casper. And Dominic

Casper and Benedict
I'm on a European roll here.

Casper and Julien
Casper and Marius
Casper and Hugo

Give him another strong name not a sound that is nearly the same.

I like all of these and would also throw in Markus .

@theduchessofspork Sadly not. I do think Chester is a lovely name.

I love Chester! That goes beautifully with Casper!

PickledScrump · 09/12/2023 16:16

I think it sounds fine, most of their lives will be separate from each other anyway. I love the name kester, I was in school with one, definitely wasn’t rough

Trez1510 · 09/12/2023 16:20

Casper and Jasper? 😏

Casper and Marek are both strong, fairly unusual names. Won't be many of either around.

Doublebiscuit77 · 09/12/2023 21:37

I like Kester, probably because of the character from Precious Bane, actually not heard it elsewhere.

Other suggestions could be Stefan, Felix, Axel, Otto, Maxim.

ArsenicInTheAppleTart · 09/12/2023 21:47

I don't think Kester sounds at all rough. Isn't it an old form of Christopher? That's what one of the Chalet School books told me anyway.

But it doesn't go well with Caspar. Chester works better.

Caspar and Miles
Caspar and Gabriel
Caspar and Lucien

ArsenicInTheAppleTart · 09/12/2023 21:49

Just noticed you have a Casper rather than a Caspar!

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 09/12/2023 21:57

Kester is alright. I know a nice woman called Kester. It's also a good cat name.

Caspar is a ghost.

You do know what a 'keister' or 'keester' is in America?

SemperIdem · 09/12/2023 22:00

I don’t think they work together, no.

Why would someone posting on MN automatically know American slang terms?

Posters are more likely to be British or otherwise European than they are American.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 09/12/2023 22:02

I think they sound fine with each other. Kester isn’t to my taste but I don’t think it’s a problem pairing it with Casper.

Candymay · 09/12/2023 22:04

Either Casper and jasper or Kester and jester

PickledScrump · 09/12/2023 23:11

Yes I do, but as the OP is likely to be in the UK it’s not a term that is likely to be an issue.

43ontherocksporfavor · 09/12/2023 23:11

Great if you’re having kittens. Soz.

RachelSTG · 10/12/2023 08:37

I know a Kester in his 40s. He carries his name well and no eyebrows raised at all
