Does this first name and middle name go nicely or is it a bit samey?

Excitedly discussing baby names as we are TTC at the moment. We’ve always loved Nina and middle name would be Jean.

Nina Jean - is it too ‘eeee’ sounding?

Perfect combination

AudiobookListener · 05/12/2023 19:10

Lovely.

OurfriendsintheNE · 05/12/2023 19:12

No it’s lovely, go with it

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 05/12/2023 19:13

My first thought was Norma Jean (as in Marilyn Monroe). Not necessarily a bad association though.

SallyWD · 05/12/2023 19:14

It's lovely.

Does Nina go with the surname? Nina Jean is nice.

theduchessofspork · 05/12/2023 19:16

No it’s totally fine

Me too! Nina Jean is lovely. I also like Nina Belle or Nina Rose. Or Nina Jane is similar without the double e sound?

MuckyPlucky · 05/12/2023 19:19

Perfect name! I know a Marnie Jean and have always thought how fab it is!

Wuman · 05/12/2023 19:23

Is it pronounced nine-a or neen-a? Whatever I think they both sound great. Prefer Nine-a Jean though.

ReallyVeryOverEverything · 05/12/2023 19:23

It's nice! I know a Nancy Jean which I think is lovely too.

Sandysandwich · 05/12/2023 19:23

Nina is lovely, saying it out loud does sound a little bit samey but thats only two thirds of her name so with a surname it probably won't.
Nina Jean Samuels - not samey at all
Nina Jean Greene - bit silly

I have never heard anyone (in the UK anyway) pronounce it as Nine-a before!

I really like both names OP, but I’m not keen on them together because matching ‘een’ sound. Looks like I am in the minority though!

Tbh the surname is very close to ‘Warner’ so not sure if it is a bit samey because of the ‘n’ sound.

It sounds quite American.

Sandysandwich · 05/12/2023 19:37

I wouldn't be too worried if the first and middle sound samey, but if Nina Warner sounds a bit odd to you it might not work.
I think it sounds fine, Nina is really nice but doesn't 'go' with the other names as well as other names might, ones with less of the same letters.

shoopshoopdedoo · 05/12/2023 19:43

Love it. Two of my favourite names. I don’t think it matters if first and middle names go together brilliantly as they are so rarely said together.

riotlady · 05/12/2023 19:44

Lovely

AddictedToBooks · 05/12/2023 19:46

I'm a Nina and my middle name is "Joy".
I've also never heard anyone pronounce it as "Nine-a" either.
Nina Jean is lovely

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 05/12/2023 19:46

Lovely little girl was Nina - Jay at ds's primary. Nina Jean with or without the - would work imo.

IHeartBiscuits · 05/12/2023 19:50

I like it but I do think it's a little bit samey TBH.

PerspiringElizabeth · 05/12/2023 19:51

It’s perfect! Love it so much.

I don’t think it sounds American 😵‍💫 not sure why that would be a bad thing anyway. All the Ninas I know are European, and Jeans from all over the place.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 05/12/2023 21:02

A bit samey with the eee sound but I would still have it.
Also like Nicola Jean.
