Baby arriving in 8 weeks, still haven't settled on a name. Came across this one and found it interesting. What do you think of it? Thanks

My mother wanted to call me Raphaellla, I'm so glad my dad talked her out of it!

Ended up with the female version of the local football team he played for, but still better than Raphaella.

No!

YoullCatchYourDeathInTheFog · 01/12/2023 23:07

I prefer Rafaela or Rafaella as spellings. Nice name, I personally would get bored with saying "no, no Italian heritage we just liked the name" but if you wouldn't find that a problem then that's your choice.

Daisybuttercup12345 · 02/12/2023 00:09

I would hate to be called that. Far to fussy.

CallieQ · 02/12/2023 01:09

Nah

Bbq1 · 02/12/2023 01:25

I knew a Rafiella years ago, known as Rafie. We were teens at the time. She was dark, half Italian I think and she was beautiful. Really suited her name.

fedupwithbeinghot · 02/12/2023 01:33

I really dislike that name

ElizaMulvil · 02/12/2023 01:36

No and far too difficult for her to spell aged 5 - and everyone else in her life will be always asking her how to pronounce and/or spell it. I had a 'difficult' name and it was a pain.

EtiennePalmiere · 02/12/2023 02:05

I think it's pretty. Agree I've seen it with one L usually

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 02/12/2023 02:10

I don’t like it personally but there’s nothing inherently wrong with it and there are good nickname options if she didn’t like the full version. If you like it then go for it.

Inthetropics · 02/12/2023 02:54

My best friend is called Rafaela. It's a lovely name!

IBE45 · 02/12/2023 02:58

It's a lovely name and the pronunciation is straightforward so it shouldn't be butchered. Although, I think it's quite a big name and maybe hard to pull off. Easier if you have Mediterranean heritage.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 02/12/2023 03:02

It's a beautiful name.

curaçao · 02/12/2023 03:04

I think its awful! A combination of that horrid sickly white ferrero rocher and ruffs and frilliness!

octoberfarm · 02/12/2023 03:29

Absolutely love it! And the nickname Raphy ♥️

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 02/12/2023 05:44

I really like it. I’ve only met one person with the name before and she Italian.

soosal · 02/12/2023 05:55

Raphaela is wonderful. Rafie as a nick name is so cute too!

pinkdelight · 02/12/2023 07:07

My first thought was of teenage mutant turtles too, then the sickly ferrero rocher alt. I think it's an okay name for an Italian but a bit random and a mouthful if not.

makeminealargeoneagain · 02/12/2023 07:18

Not for me. Too fussy sounding.

starsinthenightskies · 02/12/2023 07:40

The only one I’ve ever known was German - spelt Rafaela and her nickname was Rafi.

I quite like it but I think it will definitely get shortened!

oviedo · 02/12/2023 08:20

Rafaela is much nicer and less fussy/pretentious.

I am now dying to know what your name is @BebbanburgIsMine

Sloughanna? Wrexham-Mae? Doncasterella?

Catandsquirrel · 02/12/2023 08:33

I really like it and usually don't care for long frilly names. Kind of tough and cool.

Loopytiles · 02/12/2023 08:36

dislike - think because the male name is such a familiar one - like frederica and thomasina
