Baby name trouble

Babybrainmummy · 29/11/2023 15:48

We have a 1 week old newborn and still haven’t decided on his name yet. We’ve finally narrowed it down to 3-
its been quite difficult because we are a mixed faith couple (Hindu and Christian).

Our daughter is Emilia but has lots of nicknames that fits both sides.

our names are currently Miles (a variation of my dads name), Dylan/ Dillon (my husband likes it because Dil in Hindi means heart) or Taron.

Any advice??

What are Emilia’s nicknames? If Millie could Millie and Miles be a bit close? I like Taron a lot, I haven’t heard that name. Dillon is nice too, if you go for that spelling to get the heart meaning!

NotFastButFurious · 29/11/2023 16:41

I agree with @Wonderblue that Emilia and Miles are potentially too similar. Even if you don't give her a nickname, her peers will! Taron is nice and whilst "different" it's not a difficult name that people will struggle with. Emilia and Dylan is cute too.

TeddyBeans · 29/11/2023 16:43

Ooh Dylan/Dillon is lovely! I'd pick that one. Congratulations 💙

neleh87 · 29/11/2023 16:48

I like Dylan/Dillon, that was one of my choices. I prefer with a y but I have Welsh family. The Dil spelling is a nice connection for your family.

MerryChristmasToYou · 29/11/2023 20:09

I don't like Dylan/Dillon. Miles is great. I like that it has a smile in it.

PickledScrump · 29/11/2023 20:14

I love Taron

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 29/11/2023 20:16

Could you spend a day calling him one of the names and seeing if I you think it suits him?

Congratulations on your new DS FlowersWink

Summerscoming23 · 29/11/2023 20:16

Dillon for me. Prefer the dylan spelling but think the other suits your family specifically

theduchessofspork · 29/11/2023 22:49

I love Miles

But if you thinks it’s too similar then Dylan

Nineteendays · 29/11/2023 22:56

I love Taron. Also Taran which is Welsh for thunder

Velvetbee · 29/11/2023 23:04

Taron is gorgeous.

Emilia and Dylan or Dillon are too similar - Milly Dilly

Miles, though sharing some letters is a different sound - Mill and Meyeles

I love Miles and Emilia
Taron is a girls' name where I live.

user1492757084 · 30/11/2023 03:56

Also I like Rishi and Emilia.

Orangeteatime · 30/11/2023 09:12

My favourite is Dylan but they are all lovely names.

JussathoB · 30/11/2023 09:38

Remember you will say your child’s name(s) millions of times. Which name do you like saying the most?

biryoung · 30/11/2023 09:58

Love Taron

makeminealargeoneagain · 30/11/2023 10:34

Dylan is my favourite and goes well your DD name.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 30/11/2023 10:40

Dylan is one of my favourite boys names so I have to vote for that one. I like Miles as well but I agree with people saying it might not go well with Emilia depending on what her nicknames are. Miles and Milly are to close/matchy in my opinion.

muddyford · 30/11/2023 10:46

I love Miles but it looks, with your daughter's name, as if your are playing a word game as it's similar. Dylan reminds of the dopey rabbit in The Magic Roundabout. But Taron is just gorgeous and I hadn't heard it before.

blackoverbillsmothers · 30/11/2023 11:07

I love Miles.

peaceinourtime · 30/11/2023 11:17

Dillon is nice and I think it will work well

clpsmum · 30/11/2023 11:20

Dylan

Doublebiscuit77 · 30/11/2023 11:39

Taron or Dylan/Dillon

Pinky2023 · 30/11/2023 11:41

My son is Dylan I love it so much . Go with Dylan / Dillon

congratulations

Vexxa · 30/11/2023 11:51

I know a Hindu/British called Dhilan which I think is lovely.
