Can’t believe no-one’s said Morgan yet Grin

Sorry OP!

DC2 would have been Arthur if we hadn’t already had a Martha. For girls, we also liked:

Rosemary
Imogen
Alice
Mary

I can’t work out why people do this. Why do names have to ‘go together’? It’s like the firstborn sets the tone and subsequent children have don’t get to have their own name.
I say this as a third child in a themed set.
Surely just go with a name you like?

I agree.

Arthurette? Arthurina?

BeyondMyWits · 25/11/2023 07:48

My Great Grandparents were Arthur and Lillian... so the names always go together in my head.

groovergirl · 25/11/2023 07:51

Or try a mid-century classic:

Helen
Susan
Carol or Carolyn
Berenice nn Berry
Pamela
Joanna
Jacqueline
Sally
Lucinda
Patricia

Me neither. Avoiding name combinations like Anna and Hannah, Bill and Ben or Arthur and Martha might be a good idea, as might be avoiding something like Ptolemy and Neveah-Leigh.

I know sibsets with quite different name types or quite similar names (e.g. Tamara and Helen or John and Jane), and it's not an issue.

Morgan's a boy's name.

Morgana
Guinevere/Jennifer/Gaynor

It’s also used for boys, yes, but its use as a girls’ name goes back at least to Geoffrey of Monmouth so you will need to take it up with him Grin

Errolwasahero · 25/11/2023 08:36

Daley.

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 25/11/2023 08:38

Presumably so long as you are going to call a girl something Yoonique then the names will be in keeping with each other.

Viviennemary · 25/11/2023 08:41

I just don't get why names need to 'go'. Just choose a name you like. Some nice names suggested. I like

Grace
Ivy
Isabel
Violet
Iris
Hazel
Elsie
Rose

It's not a theme but it is odd when one child is very different and then it can be strange for that child. I used to know a sibset something like Emma, James and Barley and I thought it was strange. I also had a good friend who had an extremely unusual name (I've never even heard of someone else with this name, I think it was a star name) and her sib was David! "Oh wow, your name is so unusual, what's your brother's name? David? Oh, OK."

Thank you for the suggestions, very helpful! They don't need to 'go' as much, more just sound nice together as opposed to two names at the of opposite ends of the scale :)
