I can’t see why not. And he’s always got the option of Will which I know dozens of adults called.

Scruffington · 24/11/2023 09:51

My friend has a dog called Wilbur. Which is nothing in itself but then there's also Wilbur the Elephant, and Wilbur the pig from Charlotte's Web.

It just gives me animal vibes!

If I met a human Wilbur it might erase all that though.

MaloneMeadow · 24/11/2023 14:17

Awful, and the Will/Willy nicknames he’ll likely get from it are even worse

RuthW · 24/11/2023 17:58

It's lovely.

KirstenBlest · 24/11/2023 19:17

Wilbur the pig

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 24/11/2023 19:19

It does make me think of the pig from Charlotte’s web. It’s a cute name for a pet but I can’t imagine using it for a child.

AppleKatie · 24/11/2023 19:23

I don’t think it will ‘date’ I do think it is an unfortunate name.

i know one, his parents are odd.

Growlybear83 · 24/11/2023 19:41

I think it's just cruel to call a child Wilbur.

mylifeisprettygood · 24/11/2023 19:45

I've got a Wilbur and he absolutely suits it. Children's names are incredibly personal and not all the people will ever like all the names. In his class he's always called Wilbur. Never Will or Willy.

wizzbitt · 24/11/2023 19:57

Some Pig

calishire · 24/11/2023 20:37

I just immediately think of Wilbur the pig from charlottes web. It's no from me

Ibizabar · 24/11/2023 20:39

Awful.

Exactly the same nicknames as the many many boys called William have??

I like it OP, and it will age fine - the only thing is he end up as Will, which is perfectly nice but there are loads of them

PartTimePartyPooper · 24/11/2023 20:42

I like it!

I met a pre-school Bernard and an Edwin recently. So compared to that I think Wilbur is rather lovely. And the nickname Will is fine too.

RaininSummer · 24/11/2023 21:01

We had a guinea pig called Wilbur. I like it.

IDontLoveTheWayYouLie · 24/11/2023 21:02

I don't like it but not really sure why

Cattenberg · 24/11/2023 21:08

I like it and have met a little Wilbur. I immediately thought of Wilbur and Orville Wright, and it was a long time before I remembered Charlotte’s Web.

Lorelaigilless · 24/11/2023 21:09

I don’t hate it but prefer Wilfred

smilesup · 24/11/2023 21:22

Please don't

ZinniaB · 24/11/2023 22:28

Wilbur I like - I love all names beginning with the Wil sound: Wilbur, Wilfred, William, Willem (my favourite) Willoughby etc, all of which have lots of nice nns which ward against dating. I actually think Bill/y is a sweet diminutive for Wilbur.

TatoSpice · 24/11/2023 22:29

Pig.

Mimilamore · 25/11/2023 15:08

Love it. What a neat little name ...
