Thoughts on the name Ellis for a boy?

I have an Ellis! Lovely name but I would say that.. 😆

I think of it as a surname but it sounds fine as a first name.

It sounds like Alice so not sure for a boy

I think of the daughter in Greys Anatomy

And mother. So 2 female Ellis’. I’m not even a fan of the show, my ex flatmate was, and it’s still my first association!

Ellis is the name of her mother, and her son! (Love that show…partial inspiration!)

Ellis Shepard is a girl not a boy! The son is called Bailey which actually thinking about it sounds more like a girl’s name than Ellis.
Between that and the female Teddy I don’t know that I’d personally use it as name inspo…

It’s Ellis Bell, Emily Bronte’s pseudonym for me. Chosen, like Acton and Currer, because they sounded vaguely masculine without being the definitely male Edward, Andrew and Charles.

Ellis for a boy is fine, but he might get nicknamed Elsie. I don't like Ellis for a girl.

** someone will come along and say that they know umpteen Ellises and none have ever been called Elsie.

It's my dad's name. People used to mishear and think he was called Alice lol
