Thoughts on Joseph Ethan together?

What are your thoughts on Joseph? I was going to go for Ethan for the first name but I went with Joseph instead as there's more nicknames for Joseph. I picked Ethan for the middle name, does the two names go well together? Bennett will be the surname. I love biblical names, but I do think the two names are strong and have nice meanings.

Yes I do rather like that combination. It's quite an historical combination like a character from an old book. But as you say there is so much you can do with Joseph if your son turns out to be a very 21st Century sort of soul. :)

NewDogOwner · 22/11/2023 17:41

Listen to it together. The end sound in Joseph is too similar to the beginning sound in Ethan.

yarnwitch · 22/11/2023 18:12

I think both are lovely strong names and go well together with your surname. I think they roll off the tongue slightly better the other way round but both are definitely fine

SkaneTos · 22/11/2023 18:16

I think the names Joseph Ethan sound nice together. They are bot great names!

zurala · 22/11/2023 18:19

I think it's a weird mouthful that sounds like you're describing an historical era, the Josephethan times.

It's clunky to say.

Agree

I think Ethan Joseph is better, because the ee sounds are separated and it has a sort of symmetry

FMLife · 22/11/2023 18:21

So you’ll call your son Joe? Like Sloppy Joe? Joe Shmoe? Joe sucks as a name, IMO.

NotFastButFurious · 22/11/2023 18:50

It’s really hard to say out loud because of the ph and then th sounds. I think it would easily become Joseph Efan. Ethan Joseph is easier!

Thursdayusername · 22/11/2023 19:59

Sounds great! Not hard to say at all.

fuckssaaaaake · 22/11/2023 22:03

Love it

fuckssaaaaake · 22/11/2023 22:03

I mean with Joseph first the most

KeiraKnightley2 · 22/11/2023 22:13

I strongly dislike it for the reason @NewDogOwner gave.

PickledScrump · 22/11/2023 22:40

It doesn’t flow particularly well, but you’ll rarely ever use a middle name so it doesn’t matter

user1492757084 · 23/11/2023 08:10

Joseph is a handsome first name.
Ethan is fine though you might be able to find a name that sounds less tricky to say out loud together.
Joseph Elijah
Joseph Mark
Joseph John
Joseph Barnabas
Joseph Benjamin
Joseph Caleb
Joseph Banks

DuchessOfSausaage · 23/11/2023 13:11

I don't think they flow all than well but both names are fine.
Joseph will almost certainly be Joe. The Ethans I know get called Eefun. Ethan doesn't shorten very well.
Does Joseph/Joe flow with the surname?

DuchessOfSausaage · 23/11/2023 13:28

I've seen your other thread and Joseph Ethan Surname flows ok, and Joseph/Joe is fine with the surname.

Have you considered Gordon? Wink
