Saffron

Usable? My mum says it makes her think of AbFab, but I think that’s a bit out of date!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Torganer · 19/11/2023 08:13

I think it’s cute for a baby, but I’m not sure if I’d like to be called it as an adult.

itsdark · 19/11/2023 08:15

It made me think of AbFab too but I think Saffy is a really cute nick name. Nothing wrong with Saffron.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 19/11/2023 08:28

I know an adult Saffron and think it's lovely.

ChickenBhunaandChips · 19/11/2023 09:00

I really like it.

Philandbill · 19/11/2023 09:01

Ab Fab all the way. How about Sorrel?

Goherdy · 19/11/2023 09:04

Really ? I wouldn’t name my child after a cooking spice

Rosemary I could possibly use but Saffron - nah

theduchessofspork · 19/11/2023 09:08

It’s quite 70s, but I quite like it

WeeSleekitCowrinTimrousBeastie · 19/11/2023 09:09

It's too frilly for me.

Mothership4two · 19/11/2023 09:11

Another AbFab one

playthegame · 19/11/2023 09:13

I love it!
Was on my list every time. I had all boys though so never got to use it.

RandomQuestionOfTheDay · 19/11/2023 09:13

It’s lovely.

The kids and even most of the other parents don’t have heard of AbFab. Even if they have, so what, she was a great character.

JadeVS72 · 19/11/2023 09:14

Love it! I Didn't get to use it for my DD but I did get to name the fairy she wrote to for about 3 years Saffron (good fairy name too!)

susiedaisy1912 · 19/11/2023 09:16

I worked with an adult Saffron she was 30. But I'm from the AbFab era so all I can hear is Edwina shouting Saff 😁

itsdark · 19/11/2023 09:18

But Saffy was the best. A strong and sensible young woman who stood her ground. Yes, I'd think of AbFab but it's not a negative.

MuddledMadge · 19/11/2023 14:55

I like it and think it's underused.

KirstenBlest · 19/11/2023 15:02

Not keen. Saffy a bit too close to Staffie. Sorrel makes me think of Sorrow

Scruffington · 19/11/2023 16:16

I love it. Reminds me of the obscenely beautiful Saffron Burrows.

kitsuneghost · 19/11/2023 16:32

I love it. But are you English? The English have an awful habit of shortening names and Saffy is horrid.

All2Well · 19/11/2023 16:44

I like it and would use it.

Shouldgetupearlier · 19/11/2023 16:47

I like it too

MaloneMeadow · 19/11/2023 17:49

I think it’s lovely, especially Saffie as a nickname

RuthW · 19/11/2023 17:52

Love it

crostini · 19/11/2023 18:46

I love it.
Was a high contender for my girls.

Most of your mum peers will be between 25-32 so won't necessarily make an abfab link. And if they do, so what? Most names are used in popular culture/media somewhere.

peaceinourtime · 25/11/2023 16:13

Sorrel is better

Pemba · 29/11/2023 03:19

It's really nice actually. Quite unusual now. Has a sort of hippy dippy 60s/70s vibe, in a good way! Which is presumably why Edina Monsoon chose it for her daughter, in Ab Fab.
