Girls names that 'go' with my twin girls' names?

Draculina · 12/11/2023 16:00

I recently found out that I'm pregnant - we don't know the sex of the baby yet, but in case it's a girl, I would like to prepare a list of names that I like as, when we had our twin girls a couple of years ago, we had a really hard time coming up with names.

We ended up naming our girls Annabella and Theodora, and I learned that both myself and my husband lean more towards "frilly" girls names. Trouble is, we are not native English speakers nor from the UK, so we'd like a frilly name - if we have a girl - that's international, and which 'goes' with Annabella and Theodora.

Any suggestions?

If you want an ‘uh’ ending - then I’d go for 3 syllables so it’s not too matchy matchy - and avoid another Ella or Ora sound (so no to Fenella or Aurora)

Allegra
Fernanda
Francesca
Cassia
Carina
Saskia
Serena
Edwina
Tamara
Lydia
Louisa
Philippa
Rosanna
Yolanda
Susannah

A non a ending also works well and gives a bit more variety

Marianne
Emmeline
Clementine
Genevieve

Lots of these suggestions are not very international. Even with names that are very similar from country to country there are often surprising pronunciation differences - but you'll know and not mind that, having a Theodora.

I think the poster who said you should aim for a non '-a' ending is right - or, if ending in -a, not 4 syllables (otherwise saying the three girls' names together starts sounding a bit like Pippi Longstocking's recitation of her various names). My choice would be something like Marianne, Charlotte, Emily, Paulina, Maria, Helene/Helena. Josephine or Vivienne as per PP would be a great call.

ShoesoftheWorld · 13/11/2023 06:49

Or a 4-syllable name with a different rhythm from the others would be OK - Alicia (pronounced A-li-ci-a, not Aleesha) or Olivia (v popular in the UK though, if you mind that. Sort of relatedly, I know a young Livia, which I think is lovely and sophisticated).

Beautiful names.

Annabella, Theodora and Emmeline.

That was the first name that sprung to mind.

Gabriela, Milena & Arianna

Draculina · 14/11/2023 09:19

Thank you, everyone! Some really good suggestions! Ideally, we would like a longer, and double first, name for our potential 3rd girl, but some of you make a good point that it could be nice with a shorter name.
