I love Moe for a girls name but would prefer a longer version too.
I know 'Ramona' is one option...can anyone else make any other suggestions?

What about Marlowe?

How's this for funny...after you posted I thought hmmm that's familiar and I went out to our barn and sure enough there's an old sign in there saying Marlow

I know a Marlow (without an e) aged 11. Go with the sign! I also think Imogen would be a good choice but as you haven’t picked up on the suggestion maybe it’s not for you

Bobtheamazinggingerdog · 11/11/2023 06:44

Moe with an e looks masculine and makes me think of Moe the bartender. Mo would be for a girl.

Bbq1 · 11/11/2023 07:15

Knew a girl who went by Moe, short for Mariannne which I think is a very pretty name.

I think the universe has dictated you go with Marlow!

Inmyownlittlecorner · 11/11/2023 08:25

I know a Martha, a Maia & a Morag who are all called Mo

AuntieStella · 11/11/2023 08:26

I'd assume Maureen (at a push Maura) as it's been the trad nn for that for simply ages.

(Marlow is usually a boys name, taken from surname of author)

coliqua · 11/11/2023 08:33

I think it could be used for any name starting with M, but then two of my kids have nicknames that are not at all obvious from their full names. One evolved unplanned (I actually had a nickname in mind but this other one just happened!) and the other I planned and used from birth. Some people don't know her real name, I don't think, and wouldn't guess it from her nickname.

I like it, by the way!

Eledamorena · 11/11/2023 08:41

Also, I know a Japanese girl named Moe, I can't figure out how to write it phonetically for you but she pronounces it like Moët, the champagne, but without the T. (Mo + letter 'a' sound). Not sure I'm making sense here!!

SheilaFentiman · 11/11/2023 08:41

Molly.

Whatever you choose, your DD may end up using a different name (eg Imogen becomes Immy,

Aydel · 11/11/2023 08:52

I think Marjorie is overdue a revival.

LoreleiG · 11/11/2023 08:58

All2Well · 11/11/2023 09:32

I know a Moe in her 20s, she's called Moesha (Mo-ee-sha).

Moe can be short for Molly, Morag, Morwenna...
