Hi all, husband and I need some help deciding between these name combinations! I know these names might not be for everyone but what are your thoughts about what flows best?

Elias Edwin Harris

Edwin Elias Harris

Edwin Spencer Harris

Elijah Edwin Harris

Spencer Edwin Harris

Spencer Elias Harris

Spencer Elijah Harris

FYI: Harris is the surname

Elias is my favourite of your names but I'm not convinced it goes with Harris unfortunately.
Elijah is my second favourite and goes much better.

BarnacleBeasley · 10/11/2023 11:13

If I'm purely considering how they flow, the first two options work the best. There's an awkward little gap between Elijah and Edwin because of two vowel sounds next to each other, and same for all the Spencer combinations as you either have a tiny pause, or you pronounce the R. However, if your DS mostly won't be using his full name including middle names, Spencer Harris flows just fine.

Scottishgirl85 · 10/11/2023 11:16

Elias really doesn't work with Harris.

Elijah or Edwin gets my vote as 1st name. Middle names are really not used, ever, so just go with a meaningful one.

Flow of 1st name and surname is most important.

lightelmqueen · 10/11/2023 11:19

Edwin Elias Harris flows best and Edwin Harris sounds lovely.

Pipsquiggle · 10/11/2023 11:26

Edwin Elias Harris works best. Edwin Harris is a strong name.

Agree that Elias Harris doesn't work / flow as a 1st and surname due to both finishing with 's'.

I don't like Spencer, mainly because there is a toe rag called that in my DC's class.

In the scheme of things, the middle name isn't that important so just go with what you like.

roshi42 · 10/11/2023 11:26

I don't like Ejias so much - I think because it's the same number of syllables as the last name and both end in an 'S' sound. Doesn't flow so well.

Fine for middle though! My faves are Edwin Elias, and Edwin Spencer - both sound smart.

MerryChristmasToYou · 10/11/2023 11:30

Edwin Spencer Harris
The middle name won't get used much, Try each first name with the surname.

Edwin Harris - fine
Elias Harris - doesn't flow - s -s

Elijah Harris - doesn't flow -ah ha-

Spencer Harris - fine

Edwin Spencer Harris

I agree that Elijah Harris is a bit difficult with the two Hs running into one another and Elias Harris a bit too S’y. I love both names but not with Harris so much.

TomatoSandwiches · 10/11/2023 11:33

Edward Spencer Harris

Newuser75 · 10/11/2023 11:37

What about Eli instead of Elijah/Elias?

Snugglemonkey · 10/11/2023 11:39

I like Ella's best, but agree it does not go with Harris. I agree qithh pp that Edward goes better than Edwin. So from your list, I think Spencer goes best.

Jdelle90 · 10/11/2023 11:40

I do like Eli, as it would be the nickname for Elijah or Elias anyway!

I think it flows better with the middle name/surname.

Bin85 · 10/11/2023 12:38

Edwin Spencer or Spencer Edwin

dixeypeach · 10/11/2023 12:58

Love Elias but don't think it goes with your surname. How about Everette?

peaceinourtime · 10/11/2023 14:14

Eli is a stand alone name, maybe consider that as an a first name option

BigBoysDontCry · 10/11/2023 14:17

Edwin Spencer for sure.

Mumofgirls2017 · 10/11/2023 14:56

spencer elijah

TheChristmasPig · 10/11/2023 14:59

Edwin Elijah

shoopshoopdedoo · 10/11/2023 19:53

Edwin Spencer

theduchessofspork · 11/11/2023 12:27

Edwin Spencer Harris

Elias Harris is too many s sounds - it will be a lispy nightmare

The rest are too many ees - and I don’t like Spencer as a first name (80s estate agent to me)

Eli Spencer Harris is equally nice - you could go for Elijah as a full name, but Eli is a name in its own right

BillyNotQuiteNoMates · 12/11/2023 16:55

Edwin Spencer Harris (and personally I’d probably use Eddie as a nickname) but I think it flows really well and I like Edwin

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 12/11/2023 16:56

Third or fourth options for me.

TeamFlood · 12/11/2023 16:57

I really love Edwin Spencer Harris. Xx
