Jonah or Finn

Just that really. Imminently due DS2 and DH and I have narrowed it down to these 2 names which we both like, but he prefers one and I prefer the other. Both names work equally well with our surname and chosen middle name. DS1 is called Seth. We’ve spent weeks reading every baby name list we can find, and these are the only 2 we really agree on so just wanting some outside opinions as we’re not sharing our options with anyone in real life! Thanks

I personally slightly prefer Finn, but Jonah is more unusual and I think 'goes' better with Seth.

Jonah, such a gorgeous name and goes really well with Seth

wlv12 · 23/10/2023 22:00

Jonah and Seth sounds lovely

BoleynMemories13 · 23/10/2023 22:22

Personally I much prefer Finn (one of my favourite boys names) but Jonah fits better with Seth, with them both being biblical.

If you're stuck between the two though I'd just wait and see which one suits him best.

Itwasamemo1 · 23/10/2023 22:23

I prefer Finn

I like both but think Seth and Finn is quite hard to say. Seth and Jonah sounds better together.

Jonah

There are an awful lot of Finns

Wellwellwellwallace · 23/10/2023 22:30

Both of those are great choices. Not much help but you have great taste. Enjoy your baby.

Shraree · 23/10/2023 22:36

Both are lovely but I prefer Jonah. Lots of Finns at the moment.

I prefer Finn but Jonah seems better with Seth. Which sounds best with the surname?

KingsleyBorder · 24/10/2023 15:07

Ship crews refer to a “Jonah” meaning someone who brings bad luck. The sailors in the bible story threw him overboard because it was his presence/actions that put them at risk of being shipwrecked. It’s quite a common byword for bad luck outside seafaring too.

Jonah, both as a name in itself and alongside Seth.

Finn feels lightweight in comparison.

SkaneTos · 24/10/2023 22:39

I think both Jonah and Finn are lovely names!
