A bit stuck on names… we have agreed so far that we like these three, but I’m not sure we love any of them.
What do you think?

I’m not a fan of Ivy.
As you seem to like nice girlie names, what about Emily and Emma.

Lunabetty · 21/10/2023 07:56

Love the name Matilda, not so keen on the others

Beautifulsunflowers · 21/10/2023 07:59

Matilda

have you considered Eliza?

Umph · 21/10/2023 07:59

They’re all perfectly nice.

For names with a similar vibe, you could try:
Martha
Iris
Ada or Adeline
Florence or Flora
Elouise
Phoebe
Harriet
Fern
Willow
Pearl

Alice is the best of those three.

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 08:02

Ivy is not a plant I’d want to be named after. Matilda will be Tilly so bear than in mind.
Betsy?
Honor?
Clara?
Lana?
Odette?
Orla?

I knew a little Tilly. Her name was so sweet.
Alice is another sweet one.

Purplesocks27 · 21/10/2023 08:11

I love the name Ivy! Not keen on the other two.

What about Iris or Saffron?

HAF1119 · 21/10/2023 08:34

Matilda is a lovely name :)

Marmite27 · 21/10/2023 08:36

It’s not necessarily Tilly for Matilda, I know a couple and one uses Matty and the other Tilda.

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 08:39

Matty??? That awful for a girl. Tilda is better z

DuchessOfSausage · 21/10/2023 08:44

Alice is by far the nicest. I don't like Ivy.
Matilda is ok but I'm not keen on Tilly, Mattie or Tilda.

There are so many names you could choose from.
If you like Matilda you might like Tabitha, Jemima, etc
If you like Alice, you might like Emily, Emma, Annis etc
Ivy falls into the Evie/Ava/Eva/Isla names, which seem overused

Marmite27 · 21/10/2023 09:48

She’s an adult, and was sick of Tilly so chose it herself

There's absolutely no reason a Matilda has to be a Tilly! Only if the OP chooses Tilly.

Pipperleen · 21/10/2023 10:57

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions and opinions! Some really lovely ones here that I hadn’t even thought of.

I prefer Alice out of those 3. It's timeless and suits all age groups.

PickledScrump · 21/10/2023 11:13

I love Alice and Ivy, really dislike Matilda

theduchessofspork · 21/10/2023 11:26

They are all quite nice

I think Matilda is the least used right now, so I’d go for that.

Otherwise maybe..

Serena
Cassia
Verity
Jasmine
Ines
Ione (eye-oh-nee)
Enid
Ffion (foxglove)
Frances
Lois
Adela
Esther
Aster

timoteigirl · 21/10/2023 11:40

I like all of them although always expect Ivy to be a goth hanging around old cemeteries lols.

Other mighty women from middle ages:
Eleanor (Matilda's younger sister)
Leonor
Beatrix
Beatrice
Isadora
Adelaide
Louise
Isobel
Eliana
Maude
Charlotte

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 16:56

@theduchessofspork 3 Matildas at my primary. All are called Tilly and Matilda interchangeably.

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/10/2023 16:56

Please not Maude!! 😂

FlorenceBoot · 21/10/2023 17:08

My dd is Alice.

It has the advantage of being un-nicknameable.
