Hello, we are due very soon and we have a few names we like but we really need help choosing what goes best with the surname Phipps?

  • Mia Rose
  • Harper Lily
  • Lucia Rose (pronounced lu-see-ah)
  • Willow Grace

I think they all go with the surname. I like willow, I think it's such a lovely name.

Pieceofpurplesky · 20/10/2023 20:14

Willow Grace Phipps

Sealover123 · 20/10/2023 20:54

Willow goes the best with your last name

SaracensMavericks · 20/10/2023 20:55

Lucia Rose is my favourite

PickledScrump · 20/10/2023 21:05

Willow is incredibly popular if that bothers you.
Mia goes best with your surname

MaloneMeadow · 20/10/2023 21:20

Harper is my favourite by far!

HoHoHoliday · 20/10/2023 21:24

Harper Phipps is a lot of 'p's!

Mia Phipps, Lucia Phipps, Willow Phipps, all very nice.
Lucia, prepare for a lot (most?) people to pronounce it Lu-chi-a.

BigBoysDontCry · 20/10/2023 21:25

Harper Phipps is actually quite awkward to say.

I think Mia sounds best.

Hotchocolatemousse · 20/10/2023 21:27

Lucia Rose Phipps but Lydia Rose works equally well.

Harper is my least favourite name.

Mintearo7 · 20/10/2023 21:30

Willow Grace is my fave - you can check how popular it is on ONS if that’s concerning you. I don’t actually know any baby Willows.

Lucia is nice but as you probably know, daughter will be forever pronouncing it for people.

DramaAlpaca · 20/10/2023 21:32

Willow Grace sounds best with the surname.

WhatWillEyeCallMyself · 20/10/2023 21:41

All are nice apart from Harper which does not work with Phipps.

Mumofgirls2017 · 20/10/2023 22:26

I like Willow Grace

Cowlover89 · 20/10/2023 22:27

Willow grace

Theoldwoman · 21/10/2023 07:07

Willow Grace

The middle names are a meh, particularly Rose and Grace, and you need to look at the first name surname, not the full name.

Mia - overused and has been in the top 20 for 20 years. Gets said as Mere
Harper - surname. Not keen on it as a first name
Lucia (pronounced lu-see-ah) - nice but will get Lucy-a, Loosha and Lootch-ee-a before Lu-see-ah
Willow - nice, but she might not be willowy or graceful.

Lucia is the nicest but Lucy is better.
Lucy Phipps is lovely
Lucy Willow Phipps?

theduchessofspork · 21/10/2023 11:34

Lucia - very pretty combination

Really don’t like the rest

Rose and Grace are real filler middle names, so you might want to find something else

MerryMarigold · 21/10/2023 12:52

Lucy Willow is nice. She Rose and Grace are fillers. Better to have something with meaning, family name or a name you like the meaning of.

Don't worry about sound of middle name. It's only used when you get married!

The only one I don't really like is Harper but I agree Lucia will Loo-chee-uh. If you want the English 'ssss' in it then have Lucy which is underused and pretty.

Watchthedoormat · 21/10/2023 13:02

Lucinda Grace Phipps is my suggestion.
Lucia pronunciation issues would put me off.
I personally like Grace as a first name too and like Grace Lucia and the fact Lucia is in the middle makes it less of a problem.

Somewhatchallenging · 21/10/2023 16:39

Lucia is best, but you’ll get varying pronunciations. I think you need something longer with your surname, and Lucia has three syllables.

atthebottomofthehill · 21/10/2023 16:41

Is this a troll post? Cos those names are pure bait for mumsnet

Thanks for your useless and negative comment.
