Charlotte or Lily?

DH and I are expecting a baby girl very soon and are torn between Charlotte and Lily. On balance we both prefer Lily but fear it’s too popular/a bit wet. What are peoples
thoughts? TIA

I think Lily is beautiful. Charlotte seems more popular where I am, both my kids have one in their class and I know a few out of school too. Not had a Lily in their classes.

Definitely Charlotte. Lily always reminds me of a certain tampon brand

PantsOfDoom · 19/10/2023 22:48

Charlotte but use Lottie

Daisybuttercup12345 · 19/10/2023 23:20

I love Charlotte ❤️
Charlotte Lily is pretty 😍

Personally I prefer Charlotte but if you both prefer Lily go for Lily. They're both quite popular, so nothing really in it there.

If by 'a bit wet' you mean you fear it won't suit an adult (as wet seems a strange word to describe a name you like) I don't see an issue. By the time she's an adult they'll be loads of adults called Lily, Poppy, Daisy, Tilly, Molly etc, as that cutesy style is in right now.

Where I am Charlotte is very very popular. I prefer Lilly

Charlotte, classic and lovely.

Lily has had it’s day.

badgerfoxy1 · 22/10/2023 23:54

I like Charlotte, but dont think it gets pronounced properly.

Snugglemonkey · 23/10/2023 00:21

Charlotte, Lily is too common.

Theoldwoman · 25/10/2023 21:12

Charlotte 100%

bakewellbride · 25/10/2023 21:17

My dd is Charlotte. A beautiful name, with nick name options too.

Broodywuz · 25/10/2023 21:20

Charlotte nn Lottie?

fruitypancake · 25/10/2023 21:29

Charlotte

avocadotofu · 25/10/2023 22:15

Definitely Charlotte. I feel like there are so many Lily's.

notanotherclairebear · 25/10/2023 22:18

There are 3 Lily/Lillys in DS's year, 2 in DD's year. DD is the only Charlotte in the school!

Atomickittyxx · 25/10/2023 22:41

Lily is lovely but unfortunately a bit overused I think. Lottie is nice and it's a short version of Charlotte.

PinkRoses1245 · 25/10/2023 22:46

Lily was the number 1 name recently. With Charlotte you have to be prepared for the shorter versions of the name.

WeWereInParis · 25/10/2023 22:56

Definitely Charlotte

KayEmAy · 25/10/2023 23:08

Lily!

I know so so many Charlottes lol

Allthecatseverywhereallatonce · 25/10/2023 23:26

Lily (bit biased as I have one) Charlotte is lovely too.

miniaturepixieonacid · 25/10/2023 23:34

I absolutely love the name Charlotte. Though I would try hard to resist Lottie or Charlie. I don't think they're inevitable.

Lily is nice enough too but I much prefer Charlotte. Charlotte Lily sounds lovely.

Catmama23 · 26/10/2023 06:25

What about Lilian? Lily as a nick name and she has a more mature name option for when she’s an adult.

pumpykins · 26/10/2023 07:22

Charlotte. Classier

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 26/10/2023 10:38

Charlotte
