This is a joke right?

Doingmybest12 · 17/10/2023 06:18

Too much expectation with that name. Pretty though .

Indiaorigin · 17/10/2023 06:23

If you are in the UK I’d suggest Angelo instead. I don’t know anyone called Angell so only from Tess.

BrennanBooth · 17/10/2023 06:25

The first main vampire in Buffy is called Angel and he gets a spin off show as well lol When he turns evil it changes to Angelus so that could work I guess

I've known both boy and girl Angels.

The boy pronounced it An-hell (it wasn't An-hell but I can't think how else to type the pronunciation! 🫣).

Hotchocolatemousse · 17/10/2023 06:33

There's a girl in the school my kids go to called Florida and she's teased mercilessly. The mum is now regretting her name choice and is thinking of changing it by deed poll.

lesserspotted · 17/10/2023 06:34

I dont understand these responses, it is a common enough name for boys where I teach in London, no one bats an eyelid, certainly no bullying. I am in a large secondary, and can think of 3 off the top of my head - all boys.

I agree Angela or Angelo is nicer sounding

Brocollimatilda · 17/10/2023 06:38

Nope

PinkRoses1245 · 17/10/2023 06:40

Please not for any child! You’re naming an adult not just a baby

CookieMonster25 · 17/10/2023 06:51

Please no, he will get bullied

KilgoreTrouts · 17/10/2023 06:55

Isn’t it quite old-fashioned as a Spanish/Hispanic name these days? The ones I know/know of are all middle-aged or older.

I quite like it, when pronounced as it is in Spanish, but Brits will get it wrong.

YellowChrysnthemum · 17/10/2023 06:59

My kids are in secondary now and it is brutal - the kids tease absolutely everything and some of them are really nasty kids. I honestly wouldn't for that reason.

SpringIntoChaos · 17/10/2023 07:00

No...really no! I have two girls in my school...both are 'Angel Rae' which is next level awful. They are NOT 'angels' at all which makes it worse somehow. A boy Angel would just be strange I think - Angelo is better 🤷‍♀️

ColonelPine · 17/10/2023 07:09

I love it for a boy actually, but no I wouldn’t use it.

midnightblue12 · 17/10/2023 07:22

I understand that it's not unusual where you come from m, but you have to consider where you're raising the child as that will be their home and where they come from.
I don't like to be negative about peoples name choices but I really don't like angel for a boy.... or a girl really. Perhaps a middle name?

3luckystars · 17/10/2023 07:22

Stop it.

Berlinlover · 17/10/2023 07:34

Definitely not but Angelo is a nice alternative.

MotherofWhippets81 · 17/10/2023 07:36

I don't think it's as bad as pp are making out but I would go for Angelo.

toastofthetown · 17/10/2023 07:39

I really like it pronounced the Spanish way. The English way not so much.

BeetleDeuce · 17/10/2023 07:42

Definitely the rapist in Tess of the Durbervilles. A big no.

KilgoreTrouts · 17/10/2023 07:47

BeetleDeuce · 17/10/2023 07:42

Definitely the rapist in Tess of the Durbervilles. A big no.

You’re thinking of Alec D’Urberville.

magicscares · 17/10/2023 07:51

Gabriel or Angelo for a boy are much better.

BeetleDeuce · 17/10/2023 07:53

KilgoreTrouts · 17/10/2023 07:47

You’re thinking of Alec D’Urberville.

Apologies - you are right! Angel is the one who rejects her instead. The OTHER bastard.

WaltzingWaters · 17/10/2023 07:54

If living in a Spanish/Hispanic country it’s okay but Brits would just get it all wrong!

PaintBySticker · 17/10/2023 07:55

Same - Angel Clare. And I wouldn’t want to name my child after him!
