We are due our baby girl soon. We already have an Isabella (Bella), Arthur and Archie. We have shortlisted 3 names, what do you think goes best? Thank you.

Connie (just Connie, not a fan of Constance)
Dulcie
Posie

Poppy and Sylvie are also nice.

Steev · 15/10/2023 09:14

None are really my taste but Connie would do

Do you like Beattie?

SneezyEvie · 15/10/2023 09:17

Connie. I don’t like the other two.

I would still put Constance on BC even if I used Connie day to day as it gives her a more formal option to use when older.

SoupDragon · 15/10/2023 09:22

Of those options, Connie. It seems not too "frilly" but frilly enough IYSWIM. It's a name for someone who could be anything.

Posie sounds so weak and Dulcie is awful. I'd have pronounced it Dull sea but I don't like it as doll sea either.

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 15/10/2023 13:48

Definitely Connie!
Posie and Ruby could be good choices as well.

I personally really dislike Dulcie.

MargotBamborough · 15/10/2023 14:18

I'd go with Posie but as a nickname for either Rose or Josephine.

margegunderson · 15/10/2023 15:02

Have a Connie short for Corinne?

Daisybuttercup12345 · 15/10/2023 20:18

Posie would be awful for an adult nn Po.
Dulcie looks Dull.
Connie. I can see past con.
Dorothy? nn Dolly?
Beatrice nn Bea?

UsefulSmartPrettyHappy · 16/10/2023 14:44

Dulcie and Connie are beautiful.

peaceinourtime · 18/10/2023 08:28

Of the three Dulcie, it’s really pretty and will age well from early years to being older. The other two, Posie sounds like a child’s name and Constance has the sound to it of old lady name.

Fab973 · 18/10/2023 08:30

Connie sorry but the other two names are awful. Connie is beautiful

Nubnut · 18/10/2023 08:34

Love Posy for the youngest

Meniscus · 18/10/2023 08:40

Connie, but Constance on BC. I have two friends called Connie and one is actually Concepta, which, unsurprisingly, she has always hated. It also gets used in rural parts of the country as a nickname for Cornelius.

KirstinBlest · 18/10/2023 08:40

Dulcie is too close to Dunce

PickledScrump · 18/10/2023 08:55

Connie definitely.

Posy is really cute for a little one but not so much a grown woman.

Dulcie is hideous, recently met one that was pronounced Dull-chee, definitely lived up to the “chavvy” stereotype pp mentioned.

Robinbuildsbears · 18/10/2023 09:08

Since you have your older daughter Bella the full version Isabella on her BC to use when she's older, you'd be doing your younger daughter a disservice to only give her a diminutive name like Connie without the more elegant and mature Constance as an option if she wants it.

dressedforcomfort · 18/10/2023 11:37

I like Dulcie. Makes me think of dulcet tones...

Billlio · 18/10/2023 23:24

Love Connie

Cats234 · 18/10/2023 23:27

Connie is nice
Dulcie is awful
Posie is cute but can't imagine an 18 year old or 55 year old called Posie

Evansessance · 15/11/2024 03:47

I like Dulcie. It’s different. And, you can ignore this suggestion, but I like it being short for Dulcinea. And it goes well with Isabella. Both Hispanic names, and Arthur and Archie already go so well together so why not make the girls names.

LauderSyme · 15/11/2024 04:11

I disagree with the majority of posters here because I really like the name Dulcie. I think it's soft and sweet and charming. I know a lovely little girl called Dulcie.

I like Posie too and I think an adult woman in 2045 will wear the name just fine.

I dislike Connie because it has a hard edged sound and reminds me immediately of 'con artist'.

I think you should be brave and go for the name closest to your heart!

SallyWD · 15/11/2024 07:01

The baby will have been born by now!

sel2223 · 15/11/2024 07:33

Connie by a long stretch....or what about Minnie?

The other names start with 'Pose' and 'Dull' neither great sounding for your beautiful baby

Just noticed the dates - you are right!

SingingSandy · 15/11/2024 08:58

Connie is great!
