Help picking a girls name!

Hello,

I have 12 weeks left until the birth of my baby and I can’t decide between the name Sienna OR Philippa.

Can you also suggest any middle names for either or both names?

Love Sienna, I’d love to use it but my only worry is that some people would mix it up with Senna as in the laxative🤦‍♀️ (sorry, can you tell I’m medical!!) Probably just overthinking things but it’s a gorgeous name

Philippa is very old fashioned to me, not a fan at all. Really like Pippa though if that would be a compromise

Pippa is a very rude word in other languages 🙈

For that reason, I'd stay clear of that one.

I am a registrar and I've only ever registered a baby Sienna once. I think it's a lovely name.

how about Sienna Rose?

Yes I guess Pippa would naturally be her nickname, but wasn’t sure on that as her full legal name but definitely some food for thought! Thank you 😊

Sienna Rose is lovely - but I have people keep telling me Rose is a ‘filler name’ and to avoid!

Sir name also begins with R and is one syllable so for that reason Rose may not work as may be too much of a mouthful.

Sienna is awful and there’s so many. Phillipa is better and Pippa is a lovely nn. Is there a family middle name you could use?

Sienna is so much nicer than Phillipa! Phillipa is very middle aged (which isn't a bad thing, just odd on a baby) and doesn't have a nice sound.

I also think there is nothing wrong with the middle name Rose, it's classic and elegant!

I think Philippa is more classy and like Pippa but Sienna is more current (will also mean there’s a lot around and might date).

There are two Sienna's in dds reception class and neither seem particularly kind so far so that puts me off

But also pippa/pip are cute nicknames

Middle names I'd go

Philippa Isobel, Philippa Marigold or Philippa Phoebe

Sienna seems very trendy, whereas Philippa seems more traditional. I prefer Philippa.
Nothing wrong with Sienna Rose but it's quite likely that if there's another Sienna she'll be a Sienna Rose too, and Rose is very popular as a middle name.

Sienna Rose Roberts (subst. R surname) doesn't flow all that well, but usually people are Sienna Roberts not the full name.

I'd go with a family name as a middle name, it seems more classy.

My fave is Philippa.

Sienna is very pretty but I would definitely avoid combining with another colour name (Ruby and Rose have been suggested). Sienna is a yellow / orange tone.

Philippa is very classic, far fewer of them about.
