Due my first baby in the next couple of weeks. We have been set on names the whole way through and now DH has thrown a spanner in the works and we are down to 2 names. Jasper or Theodore. Middle name will be Alexander. I love both names so how do I decide? Votes please 😀

Theodore gets my vote! Lots of cute nicknames too.

Legoninjago1 · 03/10/2023 15:23

You can't move for Teddys and Theos around here so I'd definitely say Jaspar!

Legoninjago1 · 03/10/2023 15:24

*Jasper

Agree with PP, every other baby boy I've heard of recently too is either a Theo/Theodore/Teddy, it's a really sweet name but slightly overdone now I feel. Go with Jasper.

Riverlee · 03/10/2023 15:26

I vote that you wait until you meet him, and then decide what name to give him. Of the three, I prefer Alexander as a first name!

KayEmAy · 03/10/2023 16:40

Jasper :) There are enough Theos lol

TulipsTulipTulips · 03/10/2023 16:46

Jasper. I know one 6yo Jasper and it’s great.

I also know about a billion little Theos (and Alexes) and their names all blend into one.

User6761 · 03/10/2023 16:55

I love Alexander! Definitely my favourite of the three names. Theo is nice and certainly popular at the moment. I'm not keen on the full name Theodore though. I've only met one toddler Jasper. It has very 'posh' vibes to me which may or may not be the feel you're going for.

bambi102 · 03/10/2023 17:15

Jasper has always been my first choice. DH had agreed and then threw in Theodore which I do love too. Not so keen on the shortend versions but I know someone will shorten it at some stage. I think I'm going to stick to my guns and see if I can convince him to stay with it lol. Alexander is DH middle name and we have decided whether boy or girl we will use our middle names as baby's middle name.

Also I'm definitely all for more unique names and trying to avoid popular names which Is why Jasper has been top of the list for so long.

We don't actually know if it's a boy so atm I'm hoping for a girl because I know we are in 100% agreement with girls name 🤣

Jasper, definitely

MollyMarples · 03/10/2023 22:07

Jasper

ohmyohmy123 · 03/10/2023 22:11

I'd go with jasper. I have a friend with a child called Theodore and she doesn't pronounce the T so says Feodore. It's very popular at the min.

shoopshoopdedoo · 03/10/2023 22:20

Of your options, I love Alexander, so I’d promote it from the middle spot.

I like Theodore. Personally, I dislike Jasper, but lots of people love it including you, so go for it!

bambi102 · 03/10/2023 22:51

Thanks everyone ☺️ I think I've managed to persuade him to stick with Jasper! Now we are just counting the days to find out if we will get to use it!

That would actually really irritate me. Unless someone has an actual speech impediment it just annoys me when people don't pronounce letters properly.
