Thoughts on Pearl?

I like it! Classic, and AFAIK, there aren't millions of them. Just one thing - it can sound awful in some accents (Pell).

peaceinourtime · 22/09/2023 15:02

I’m not a fan of it as Vanessa George the child molester in Plymouth ~ 13 ish years ago had a daughter with that name and the name always reminds me of her.

Deadringer · 22/09/2023 15:04

I had a lovely auntie Pearl so it's a yes from me!

PatriciaHolm · 22/09/2023 15:05

I can only assume you aren't a horror movie fan...

I like it, prefer Perla though, doesn’t feel quite so abrupt and old lady.

cruffinsmuffin · 22/09/2023 15:11

Oh I think that's lovely! Actually shocked how much I like it after reading the OP, sounds like a nice classic make.

saltnsaucey · 22/09/2023 15:15

Lovely name

SingingSands · 22/09/2023 15:19

Love it. I know sisters called Pearl and Rose.

theduchessofspork · 22/09/2023 15:25

It’s ok I guess. A bit dusty.

I like Emerald better.

Banned4life · 22/09/2023 15:28

Love it!

Yes, I completely agree. It's a boring name to me and lots of people won't pronounce it well. Think of Joe Swash...no 'l' on the end. Emerald is a truly gorgeous name!

fairycupcakes · 22/09/2023 21:13

As long as you’re not in Scotland where it’d be pronounced more like peril 🤷🏼‍♀️

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/09/2023 21:14

Lovely and you will be Mother of Pearl 😉

MrsBungle · 22/09/2023 21:16

I think it’s a beautiful name

lilyblue5 · 22/09/2023 21:18

Opal?

Megan means Pearl if that helps.

Iusedtoworkthere · 22/09/2023 21:26

& Dean?

Pearl is a lovely name.

Angelik · 22/09/2023 21:36

I have one so it's a yes from me!

doeandfawn · 23/09/2023 00:51

Scottish and LOVE the name Pearl. Really depends on your local dialect.

Loub55 · 23/09/2023 01:01

I've never considered it but I really like it!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 23/09/2023 10:48

I much prefer Pearl to the other suggestions here. I find Megan quite ugly, and Perla sounds like a toothpaste. Emerald is alright but it's nothing like Pearl, is it? Opal is lovely but is it actually a name? Not all gemstones are (Diamond!) and Beryl and Coral are not to my taste. Amber is OK. If we're going for colours, I love Fuchsia!

user1492757084 · 23/09/2023 11:10

I'm not a great fan of Pearl.
Do you like Fuschia or Colma?

Mairead, Gretal, Margaret, Margot, Lulu, Maggie, Marit,Meg and Margarete,Meghan, Peggy are all names meaning pearl that I prefer more than Pearl.

faban · 23/09/2023 20:53

I love it

WanderingWitches · 23/09/2023 21:14

It's Mr Crabs daughter on Spongebob to me
