Middle names

Hi,

I am after help choosing a middle name for baby number three due shortly. I like middle names to be after a family member.

These are my options:

Elsie Rose (late father in law’s birth flower)
Elsie Robyn (we think of father in law when we see robins)
Elsie Hazel (my Nan)
Elsie Emmie (my great Nan - I adore the name Emmie but I know it’s probably not right with Elsie!)

For a boy we have

Frederick (late father in law) to go with
Joseph (my grandad)

I’m unsure of Joseph as it’s my brother’s name too and he may use it for his child due shortly after us. Also lots of cousins have it for a middle name. My dad’s name begins with A so we can’t use that as baby’s initials would be FAT. As we are using a family name for the first name of it’s a boy I’m not sure whether to go for a name we just like for a middle name. Any suggestions welcome!

Thank you xx

There’s no reason why you can’t use Joseph, your brother doesn’t own the name.
And I like Elsie Rose best.

Oh I love Emmie!! 💗 just not sure with Elsie.

Could you have Emmie as the first name?

Emmie Robyn
Emmie Hazel
Emmie Rose are all lovely!

You can definitely use Joseph 😉 xx

I did consider Emmie as a first name and I would 100% use it. However my husband isn’t sure it’s a proper name and thinks it’s more of a nickname.

My mum was a manager in Care and Nursing homes for years.

There were quite a few Emmie's as first names, I've always liked it (Along with Queenie, although think that's a bit more out there 😂😂)

I get where he's coming from though. Could you go for something 'Proper' on the birth cert and use Emmie? Xx

Have to be honest, all girls have the filler middle names of Rose/Grace/May. So most Elsie’s are Elsie Rose. I don’t know if you’re bothered by that or not.

I like Emmie.

Emmeline Robyn nn Emmie
Emma Robyn nn Emmie
