Having second thoughts

Hi, I’m pregnant with my 2nd little girl and we have agreed to call her Chloe, which I loved and was on the list for DD1 but I’m having 2nd thoughts now.

My first daughter is called Molly.

Other names I like are
Rosie (partner has vetoed this)
Tess
Lauren

Is Chloe very dated now? I know it was hugely popular in late 90’s and early 2000’s, would that put you off?

Do you like any of the below combinations for middle names?

Chloe Tess
Chloe Autumn
Chloe Sienna
Chloe Freya
Chloe Lauren
Chloe Faith

thanks!

I like Chloe but not a fan of any of those middle names sorry, I just don't think they flow.

continentallentil · 17/09/2023 19:50

Chloe is very popular, it’s nice but a bit matchy with Molly maybe,

Tess is lovely. Lauren is dated

Chloe Freya or Chloe Tessa

Tessa Chloe or Tess/a Rosanna

ab03 · 17/09/2023 19:59

With both Chloe and Lauren I would imagine someone in their late teens/twenties, but Chloe is still in the top 100 so it can't be that dated! I like Tess and Rosie, and I think Molly and Tess sound great together.

I think Tess works less well as a middle name but the other names sound nice. Maybe a more trendy middle name will make you feel less worried about Chloe sounding dated, potentially something like Chloe Margot or Chloe Maeve.

NotFastButFurious · 17/09/2023 20:03

I don’t think it’s dated as such but Molly and Chloe is a bit rhyming. I prefer Molly and Tessa or Molly and Lauren.

SkaneTos · 17/09/2023 23:23

Chloe is a lovely name!

Mumofgirls2017 · 18/09/2023 08:21

Chloe goes well with Molly. I like Chloe autumn.

QueeniePlumtree · 18/09/2023 08:25

Chloe is a lovely name!

Not keen on Tess or Lauren as first names.

How about Connie as an alternative?

I love the sound of Connie Autumn ❤️

Chloe sounds very dated to me and doesn’t go very well with Molly. Tessa or Freya go much better

WaltzingWaters · 18/09/2023 20:38

I love Chloe but in my opinion it doesn’t go very well with Molly, just a bit too rhyming. you may find the girls both respond because they both thought they only heard the last bit of the name. Or that they both ignore you blaming it on “oh I thought you said Molly/Chloe”.

But if you do go for it, I like Chloe Sienna, Chloe Autumn, or Chloe Freya.

Tess and Rosie both nice too. Not a fan of Lauren at all. (But probably I glued by the fact I used to know a really bitchy Lauren!)

Yokaiwatch · 18/09/2023 22:10

I like all those names however I like Chloe the best. I don’t think it is dated personally. I think Chloe Faith goes quite well but depends on your surname. Stick with Chloe it’s beautiful

wingsofabird · 20/09/2023 08:47

I absolutely love Chloe @Billlio it's still popular but not overused
I think it works perfectly with Molly and I think you'd regret not using it

I wouldn't have Chloë with any name starting with a vowel because if a personal bugbear - most people don't speak clearly and you would get Chloë YAutumn. Would irritate me. If it doesn't bother you it's not a factor!
Do put the dots on the e though - it's what tells you to sound the letter, so Chloe without them is Chlo.
Yes I'm a terrible pedant.

Zanatdy · 20/09/2023 21:44

I find it quite dated personally, a friend used it 8yrs ago and I thought at the time that it was dated then.

cordelia16 · 20/09/2023 21:57

Molly and Chloe don't sound great together imo. Too rhymey and sing-songy.

I like Molly and Tess(a) much better.

Georgiepud · 20/09/2023 22:03

Chloe is my favourite. Tess sounds like a dog, sorry! Rosie is pretty.

PleaseYourselfandEatTheCrusts · 20/09/2023 23:05

It's a really lovely name.

Sparklecats · 20/09/2023 23:24

Love Chloe Sienna

Billlio · 21/09/2023 21:13

I actually love the sound of Molly and Chloe together and think they sound like sister names and have similar vibes!

My sister and I have names ending in the same sound and it has never bothered us/caused enough issues that either of us wished we had different names.

I’m pleased to see that lots of people still like the name Chloe 🥰

That will def be baby girls name, like another poster said, I think I would regret it if I didn’t use it.

Some other middle names I like are….

Chloe Emma
Chloe June
Chloe Zara
