We already have two girls 😬 so struggling with our third now particularly given that both girls have two middle names so we have already used up six of our favourite girls names 😭 this also makes me feel a bit guilty.

One girl has a name ending with an “ee” sound and another has a name ending with an “uh” sound so ideally we’d avoid both of those endings so they don’t sound too matchy matchy. Eldests name is quite unusual (outside top 200) and youngest is ranked about 60th so we also don’t want to go super popular for this one. Ideally I’d like her to be the only one in her class with the name but obviously that can’t be controlled!

Main List so far:
Iris
Florence (love it but probably too popular)
Esme
Olive
Edith
Maeve

Other names that I’ve considered by am less sure about
Ottilie/Ottiliya or variation thereof, maybe too popular, breaks my “no ee” rule
Ffion but we don’t have any welsh roots so feels a bit weird?
Bryony
Margot
Cleo
Cosette
Juniper
Delilah
Flora
Aubrey

First, congrats on your girls! As someone who is in a trio of sisters herself, it's pretty great <3

My favorites from your list:

Olive - This is one of those names where I love the whole and all the nicknames with equal measure. I think it's beautiful and I adore Liv, Olly and "O"

Cleo - short, so cool and spelling intuitive, a name I'd love to have

Cosette - always had a special place in my heart for this one, I just think it's gorgeous

Juniper - I love this name, I think it's fun and pretty.

Maeve - Really like this name! I always immediately think, Maeve Josette with the nn MJ<3

Esme, Aubrey, Margot, Delilah, Ottilie - all of these give me the same 'meh'. Absolutely nothing wrong with them, just popular and don't spark joy lol

Edith, Flora, Iris - Objectively I know they are classics, but to me they just sound dated.

Other ideas you may like:

you didn't ask for combos, but since you mentioned the big sisters had two middle names, I thought it would be fun lol

Eden Aubrey Maeve
Shay Florence Cassidy
Jennifer Lara Carys
Blaire Ivy Madeleine
Tess Margot Emma
Isobel Maeve Cosette
Piper Lily Esme
Eve Adrienne Violet
Celeste Taylor Whitney
Brooke Adrienne Violet
Odette Iris Maisie
(Gigi) Gemma Grace Caroline
Raven Thea Quinn
Hazel Alix Aria
Renee Flora Belle
Daisy Jane Matilda
Natalie Noa Claire

Ooooh love your lists! I’d probably go Iris or Florence. Love Delilah, juniper and flora too.

LoudSnoringDog · 14/09/2023 22:32

I have an Esme Florence

love these names

Fivebeanchilli · 14/09/2023 22:32

Main List so far:
Iris - I love this. I know more Irises than Florences personally but I feel as though it's had its day of high popularity and is less popular now (we're in London)
Florence (love it but probably too popular) - I like this a lot. Here in London I don't know any under 10 and most are 15-20
Esme - I'm not keen. The issues between mee and may would annoy me and I think this is much more popular for little girls where I live then either Iris or Florence
Olive - nice. I think it's on the rise but still not over popular
Edith - gorgeous
Maeve - ok. A bit dull

Other names that I’ve considered by am less sure about
Ottilie/Ottiliya or variation thereof, maybe too popular, breaks my “no ee” rule - I like Ottilie
Ffion but we don’t have any welsh roots so feels a bit weird? - the only Ffion I know lives in London and does not have Welsh roots. I think it's fine. I prefer it as a mn
Bryony - ok. Not my style
Margot - very much "now" which would put me off
Cleo - lovely but the car would put me off
Cosette - don't like at all
Juniper - ok
Delilah - not keen
Flora - love
Aubrey - don't like at all but Audrey is great

From your lists I would pick Iris, Edith or Flora as the first name.

I would have Edith Flora Iris, Edith Ffion Iris, Iris Ffion Edith.

I absolutely love Méabh, hate Maeve, particularly when it is pronounced with a long Maay sound with a v on the end, as many English people seem to do.

I really like Iris, Edith, Esme,

I like Florence (but know 5, so wouldn't use), Olive, Flora, Cosette

Don't like Briony, Juniper, Cleo, Juniper, Ffion, Aubrey, Delilah,

Chocolatesandroses · 14/09/2023 23:28

I don't like any of the names on your lists apart from Flora and Cleo.

Wiii · 15/09/2023 09:09

Mabel is what I'd call a DD right now if I wasn't brave enough to use Gloria.

Carys is very pretty too.

Margot is way too popular.

Love your list of names.

Very similar to ones I had on my list. Other names that I liked (in case you're interested) were Cora, Rosa, Etta, Violet & Ines.

MiniEggsAllYear · 15/09/2023 22:39

We seem to have quite similar taste in names.
My favourite from your main list is Maeve, closely followed by Iris. I also love Ottilie,
Cleo and Margot from your not sure list. All three were on our list for our girl.
We also had: Celeste, Juno, Penelope, Maeva and Cece.

LilyLemonade · 15/09/2023 22:53

I really like Bryony which makes me think of briar rose, Tabitha and Carys (or Charis).

What about
Laurel
Anouk
Miriam
Meriel
