I like both of these names but DH does not.

What other names would I like?

Mignonette is a cat’s name. HmmGrin

Definitely doesn’t fit the sturdy 1940s / 50s British schoolgirl at Guernsey / Swiss boarding school vibe!

neverenoughwine · 07/09/2023 10:28

Violet
Wren
Jasmine
Pearl
Autumn
Flora
Fleur
Rowan
Vivienne

Nameslike · 07/09/2023 13:09

So far I really like Pearl, Primrose and Cassia!

Haha i’d never thought about that before but I do like names of this vibe! It couldn’t be further from me. I wonder why?! Maybe it comes from reading lots of Mallory Towers when I was growing up?!

@QuaterMiss is misleading you.

You need to be looking at the abbey books for inspiration.

The chalet school has too many Margarets and Josephines.

You want
Honor
Cecily
Tansy
Damaris
Maribel
Rosa
Patch
Rosamund
Rosalind
Maidlin
Jinty
Tazy

It does seem as though you are interested in plant names.

I'd add
clementine
Sorrel
Primrose
Daphne
Primula Mary (I don't know why it needs the Mary but thems the rules)
Dahlia
Clover.

QuaterMiss · 07/09/2023 14:40

Nah, @thepurcellsisters - most of yours are the nice B list friends; not the feisty Head Girls!

Jaguarina · 07/09/2023 14:42

Persephone
Primrose
Plum
Pearl
Phyllis

I seem to like Ps

QuaterMiss · 07/09/2023 14:43

(Not that I’ve read the Abbey series. But at the Chalet School a Rosalind or Clover would be trampled over …)

Kyliemichelletaylor · 07/09/2023 14:50

Delilah, Juno, Willow, Mirabelle

sendismylife · 07/09/2023 14:51

Tansy might fit

Mailys · 07/09/2023 15:00

Maple
Love this name ATM!

Mumsanetta · 07/09/2023 15:07

Love all these names, especially Christabel. As my family is incapable of using a person’s full name, she would be Chrissy, Cece or Belle.

Anni1234 · 07/09/2023 15:13

Dominique

TogetherWeLearn · 07/09/2023 15:15

Rosalind
Saffron
Elspeth
Liberty
Bryony
Iris
Honour
Pearl
Tabitha

Latenightreader · 07/09/2023 15:32

Tansy is lovely. Clemency, Sylvia, Iris and Saffron/Saffia might work?

There was a radio series (with David Tennant) where a couple name their baby Japonica because they want a botanical name (were going for Daisy I think) and only decide when high on hormones and pain medication.
