Kate/Jane/Beth

Hi all, expecting a baby girl next month, DH and I already have a son together, George Edward, DH also has a daughter but she is 18 so not bothered about marching to her name, but for an idea of DHs style her name is India Jade.
I like simple names, nothing frilly

My favourite right now is Jane but DH isn't a fan, thinks it is dated. I also like Beth, Kate and Emma but he isn't a fan of any.

DH likes Camille (Cam-Eee not Cam-eel) but I think this would have pronunciation issues, Adeline, Maren (I like this but don't feel like it matches with George) and his favourite is Kadie/Kady which again I don't think matches George and neither of us like Katie.
He wasn't (and still isn't) in love with George as a name, if he'd had his way he would be Tristan or Jacques.

Any ideas on names we might both like?

Everyone will say Cam-ill. Nobody will say Cam-Ee. Unless you’re French it would be odd to expect people to pronounce it like that.

how about darcie or dolce (spelt many diff ways)

FayCarew · 06/09/2023 11:35

Jane - like it as a first name
Beth - seems dated
Kate and Emma - like both

Camille (Cam-Eee not Cam-eel) - I think in the UK it would be Cameel
Adeline - don't like it
Maren - is it Ma-renn, Marrenn, Marrun or Mare-un. Looks prettier than it sounds.
Kadie/Kady - don't like it at all

FoodFann · 06/09/2023 11:40

Adeline or Emma are nice

cherryassam · 06/09/2023 11:48

I agree that Camille is going to be Cam-eel in the UK.

Belle
Cassie
Cecily

Claire
Clara
Daisy

Fay

Jane is nice, go for it.

Issummernearlyover · 06/09/2023 14:10

I love Adeline. It goes well with George. I think it would be my first choice if I were having another DD. My great aunt was Adeline and she was considered very beautiful with a lovely personality, so probably I'm biased!

Theoldwoman · 06/09/2023 14:15

I have a Kate, I love it, and so does she! Classical, timeless, elegant.

George Edward is a fantastic name!

With George I like:

Alice
Lucille
Juliet
Zara
Ella
Frances
Laura
Amelia
Isobel
Lillian
Melanie

MentholLoad · 06/09/2023 14:17

I love Beth
or Martha
I really like Gertrude (Gerty), but I know that's not appealing to most

Daddylonglegs123 · 06/09/2023 14:23

I like Jane and Kate but not Beth. I also don’t like frilly names and names more like you like and not keen on any of the names your DH likes.

Other names that would maybe go with George and you might like that I can think of are maybe:

Elsie
Dulcie
Nina
Ellen
Iris
Alice
Collette
Marisha
Emily
Charlotte
Sky
Summer
Tilda
Jessica
Katherine
Melissa
Lily
Eliza

SkaneTos · 06/09/2023 14:28

If you (OP) chose the name George, maybe your husband can get to choose the name for your daughter?

Yokaiwatch · 06/09/2023 14:34

I like Adaline out those names the best, she could be also known as Ada.

What about

Bianca
Naomi
Cosette
Kiera
Ivy
Samara
Harriet
Ursula
June
Lydia
Willa
Bryony
Serena
Natasha
Sandie
Penelope /Penny
Anya
Maya
Mhairi
Clio
Francesca
Skye
Ophelia
Tia

It’s difficult trying to appeal to both tastes!

out of interest, what do you consider to be a 'frilly' name. most of that list looks frilly to me! 😁

MentholLoad · 06/09/2023 15:11

Isolda?

MyEyesMyThighs · 06/09/2023 16:15

Edie is a middle ground - DH likes certain sounds and you like simplicity?

Other possibilities:

Odette
Connie
Sadie

purplecheesecat · 06/09/2023 22:07

Beth or Jane would be my pick. Would you consider Ruth?

RedLem0nade · 06/09/2023 22:10

Elinor or Marianne (given Jane and Elizabeth are off the table)?

neverenoughwine · 06/09/2023 22:38

George and Alice
George and Susannah (Suki, Susie, etc)
George and Zara
George and Kate
George and Louise or Louisa
George and Martha

continentallentil · 06/09/2023 22:53

Camille will always be cam-ILL in the UK, and dear god not Kadie it is v downmarket.

Maren is v nice - if you both like it I’d go for that, never mind matching it with George.

Emmeline - the obvious comprimise between Emma and Adeline?

Marianne
Meredith
Clara
Cecile
Catrin
Caitlin
Jocelyn
Jessamy
Adela
Sylvie

It’s a shame he doesn’t like Jane - it’s v much due a revival

AndThatsTheTea · 06/09/2023 23:05

Emma is timeless, the best one of the lot mentioned. I also love Emmeline. Can be shortened with nice NN too.

Adeline is the nicest from DH, Addy as NN.

Other names that might suit;
Hannah
Julia
Charlotte
Penelope/Penny
Isobel
