In keeping with the Greek theme..... what do you think of Cali/Calli/Callie?
Which spelling do you prefer? Seen all variations.
Do you think it's likely a child with this name would experience it being misspelt frequently?
Do you think I should use longer name of Calista?
Thank you.

Really like the name, personally would choose Callie as the spelling.

I don’t like Calista. You could use Caroline as a longer name if you want one.

DustyLee123 · 03/09/2023 21:22

I know a Cally. He full name is Caroline, but she hates it.

MerryChristmasToYou · 03/09/2023 21:23

Calista is pretty. I like Caroline but not keep on Caro

Briandouglas · 03/09/2023 21:24

If you want really Greek you could use Calliope and then shorten it to Callie

LastNightAPandaSavedMyLife · 03/09/2023 21:25

Love Callie. I know a couple of Callie’s and it’s their full name, not shortened from something else. I do like Calista.

How about short for Calliope if you want a Greek theme.

I know someone with this name and it was always mistaken for every other name imaginable eg Kelly, Katie, Cathy, Chloe the list was endless

Love Calista.

And if you choose a longer name with Calli as a NN then she'll be able to chose spelling of her NN she likes best as she gets older.

That's not a great reason not to use a name IMO.

My name often gets confused with another with the same initial. They don't even sound the same!

I think it’s lovely, if only use a long version of the name if you actually plan to use it. If she will only be known as Callie I wouldn’t add a long name just for the sake of it, especially an unusual one like Calista. Personally I would spell it Callie as that seems the most obvious way to me and how I would spell it by default if hearing the name, although the only person I’ve ever known with the name spelt it Kali.

HuntingoftheSnark · 03/09/2023 21:35

I love Calliope. I also know a Calantha who's known as Cali.

LadyLolaRuben · 03/09/2023 21:36

Callie is lovely.

TaraRhu · 03/09/2023 21:55

Gorgeous! Go for it Smile

PassMeTheCookies · 03/09/2023 21:56

I went to college with a Callie and I have always loved the name since. She was such a lovely, wholesome, friendly girl and her pretty name suited her lovely personality. I love the name!

Ihonestlydontgetit · 03/09/2023 22:30

It's a lovely name except if you have a strong accent. My brother in law is from Wigan and my niece is called Callie. It just sounds dreadful and I feel sorry for her.

MirandaBlu · 03/09/2023 22:34

Cali is also a city in Colombia known for being an historical centre of various types of drug trade and a popular shortening of California. Not saying not to use it for these reasons, but just a possible factor in a decision. Personally, I like the Callie spelling best. (I also know a Kali, short for Caroline, but that has its own whole set of connotations re the somewhat controversial goddess).

continentallentil · 04/09/2023 00:46

I think Caroline nn Callie is best

But Calista is good too.. or Calliope

It does need a full name

SandSunWaves · 04/09/2023 00:56

Callie is lovely. I think it's lovely on its own
And would be lovely but also even better to give her the option of a longer name so Calista/ Calliope/ Caliah/ Caroline; I think even Charlotte/ Carlotta works too.

Sandysandwich · 04/09/2023 02:35

Callie is the most common spelling to me, if I heard the name, thats what I would write.
I only know one Callie but her full name was Calypso which was really pretty but was nicknamed Calippo at school so she changed it to Callie pretty quick.

AIstolemylunch · 04/09/2023 03:11

I think Callie is a lovely name. I call my son Cally (short for his full name) but I am not allowed to use it out of the house!

HoliHormonalTigerLillyTheSecond · 04/09/2023 19:20

Callia is nice nn calli

OopsieeDaisy · 04/09/2023 22:05

Callie is lovely, I would just use it on its own.
