Identical twin boys

Dramatic · 28/08/2023 23:04

We have recently found out we have identical twin boys on the way. We already have 2 girls

Emmie Francesca
Meredith Rose

I like the idea of both names starting with the same letter but I'm not averse to different letters. Our surname is one syllable and starts with a C.

Any ideas very welcome!

Congratulations! Your daughters' names are absolutely lovely. For twin boys, how about:
Caleb and Connor
Owen and Oliver
Liam and Lucas
Noah and Nathan
Ethan and Evan
Aiden and Asher
Jackson and Jordan
Mason and Max
Caleb and Carter
Wyatt and William

Enzo and Ezra

StartupRepair · 29/08/2023 00:28

I wouldn't start them with the same letter. That will be one more way for people to confuse them. I would choose names with really different sounds like:
Hugo and William
Oliver and Benjamin
Lucas and Michael
Sebastian and Thomas

Use the names as a way to strongly differentiate them.

Rory Alexander
Robert Simon (so could be Bobby if they dont want to both be R.Smith)

pikkumyy77 · 29/08/2023 00:39

I agree with this. I think what seems cute can ultimately be quite annoying for identical twins.

I always think the best think the best way to name twins is to give them completely different names that sound nice together and are of a similar ‘feel’ - basically not Horatio and Kaidyn or William and Abdullah!

Owen and Finley
Asher and Ronan
Evan and Rowan
Alistair and Percival nn ‘Percy’
Arthur and Luca
Felix and Miles
Jasper and Maxwell
Russell and Fraser
Atticus and Elias

Whatsthepoint1234 · 29/08/2023 01:44

Adding on to my comment about same letter names, the two sets of male twins I’ve come across have been:
Benny and Dexter
Robert and Peter
One was a long time ago but both sets of twins had very different names!

mathanxiety · 29/08/2023 01:53

I agree - please don't give them names that start with the same letter.

Suggestions:
Austin and Hayden
Oscar and Rowan
Finley and Zachary
Samuel (Sam) and Theodore (Theo)

SE13Mummy · 29/08/2023 01:55

I'd avoid using the same first initial for twins but if it's something you find cute on little ones, perhaps you could go for a name that has abbreviations that start with a different letter e.g. Tobias and Edward become Toby and Ted.

Riverlee · 29/08/2023 03:29

I agree, don’t give them the same initials.

Seth and Jude
Callum and Alistair
Douglas and Robert
Benedict and Lucas
Jacob and Nathaniel,
Samuel and Daniel (Sam and Dan, Sammy and Danny)
Thomas and Peter

Robinbuildsbears · 29/08/2023 06:51

Another vote to avoid gimmicky matching same letter names, they're separate individual people.

user1492757084 · 29/08/2023 09:00

Emmie Francesca, Meredith Rose and ..

Thomas Flynn and Timothy Ross - Tom and Tim
Angus Alexander and David Digby - Gus and Dave
Alistair Charles and Christopher Robin - Al and Chris
Rufus Dominic and Cedric Avery - Roo and Ced
Nicholas John and Charles Frederick - Nick and Charley

Ozziedream · 29/08/2023 09:02

Don’t give them same initials : with the same date of birth it’s a recipe for mix ups with passenger manifests, council tax, bank statements etc etc …

DriveInSaturday · 29/08/2023 09:23

Don't give them the same initial. I know the second initial will be different, but the same initial and same birthday could lead to confusion with officialdom, as well as making it harder for people to remember who is who.

I'd also suggest avoiding rhyming names, or ,names that are very similar. It makes it harder for people to learn which child is which, as above. Plus there's the added twist of having your name pronounced wrongly just so that it's obvious who they mean. For example Paul-INE and Paul-A. (I don't want to give actual examples although I've come across lots of rhyming twins while working with children.)

DelphiniumBlue · 29/08/2023 09:57

Don't give them names starting with the same letter, it will lead to a lifetime of not knowing who a letter is for, of banks confusing accounts and so on.
We have 3 of us starting with the same letter, and it's really annoying!

Mumofgirls2017 · 29/08/2023 10:24

Emmie, Meredith…

kit and teddy
freddie and leo
otis and oscar
theo and toby
jasper and rowan
wilfred and walter
rex and leo
felix and freddie
sebastian and Spencer
alexander and arthur
rudy and ralph
henry and hugo
charlie and chester

KirstenBlest · 29/08/2023 10:37

Don't give them names starting with the same letter. They will be sharing a birthday, will look almost exactly the same, and will be sharing a lot of other things.

I'd pick two different names but with a same feel.
Something like George and Henry, Michael and David, Arlo and Ezra or Oscar and Leo.

Definitely not something like Albie and Alfie.

FatCatatPaddingtonStation · 29/08/2023 11:29

Christopher (nn Kit) and Edward would be my choice. Kit and Ed/Ned/Ted

Twazique · 29/08/2023 11:38

Alexander and Laurence (Alex and Laurie)

Hector and Magnus

Edward and William

Dramatic · 29/08/2023 11:39

Thanks to all who have pointed out the problems with giving them the same first initial, I hadn't fully considered the long term with that 🤦
