I’ve just found out that I’m having a baby girl and she will have a big sister called Molly.

What name do you like the most from the final 4 names we like? Please try not to be too harsh with your comments if you don’t like something on the list 😬

Emma
Sienna
Carrie
Layla

Emma - lovely, simple, classic
Emma Sienna - too singsong
Layla - Guitar riff, Eric Clapton
Carrie - SATC

Jennalong · 28/08/2023 15:07

Emma or Layla.

Vexxa · 28/08/2023 15:32

Love Emma and I really like Carrie as a nickname for Caroline.
Not a fan of Sienna or Layla (and I think Layla has too many "l"s with sister Molly).

Hibernatalie · 28/08/2023 15:45

Emma

Emma

I like Molly and Margot! Of your original four, I think Emma is my favourite if you’re wedded to the spelling Layla - I personally think Leila is a much nicer way to spell it.

I do think Sienna goes well with Molly so if you love it, you should use it. But Emma is more classic and perhaps timeless.

shoopshoopdedoo · 28/08/2023 19:52

Emma is my favourite by far. I also like Layla and Carrie.

I personally really dislike the name Sienna, but I think it’s fine as a middle name with Emma if you love the name!

RedRobyn2021 · 28/08/2023 19:55

Sienna for me

bobby81 · 28/08/2023 20:15

Emma

ShoesoftheWorld · 28/08/2023 20:19

Emma, by miles and miles. Suits all ages, simple, pretty, not many around these days, travels well. The other three will date.

Emma Sienna sounds far too almost-rhymey. I'd go for a longer, classic name that doesn't end in an -a sound, such as Catherine, Elizabeth, Josephine.

AdoraLovesCake · 30/08/2023 09:26

Congrats! I like Layla and Margot. And yes, Sienna would be fine as a middle name for Emma (a little rhyme but still OK)

evtheria · 30/08/2023 09:28

Emma sounds lovely with sister Molly!
(I like the sound of Layla too, just personally prefer Leila spelling)

granstable · 30/08/2023 09:56

Emma Sienna sounds like someone trying to use the NATO phonetic alphabet but getting it wrong...

Birdiboo · 30/08/2023 11:24

Thanks everyone! I think we have now settled on a name which I didn’t even put here even though I said final 4 🙈🤣 but I will likely use one of these for a middle name.

@granstable that really made me laugh lol

Are we allowed to know op?

WaltzingWaters · 30/08/2023 11:44

Sienna

Birdiboo · 30/08/2023 11:47

@pilates
yea but I don’t think it will be very popular on mumsnet and I don’t want to get slated 🙈 but we both really love it and it.
The name is Marlowe which I just think is beautiful, soft and gentle. I am just worried it might be too similar to Molly but we both love it and prefer it to Margot

Emma. Or Caroline known as Carrie.

User6761 · 30/08/2023 12:25
  1. Emma - love this, and goes well with Molly.
  2. Carrie - although much prefer Cara.
  3. Sienna - it's ok but I'm not really a fan.
  4. Layla - really dislike this, sorry.

Molly & Emma and Molly & Cara both sound great to me.
