Hello!
I am in desperate need of name inspiration for a baby boy due October. I just have nothing I really love and I feel really stressed about it

Names we have suggested but still dont love are -
August
Valentine
Marlowe
Teague

His big brother has an unusual name last time I posted i got hammered by awful opinions so due to me already being hormonal I don't want to post it haha xx

I think they’re all dreadful, especially Teague. Sorry!

WAC1 · 27/08/2023 06:26

I like August!

WAC1 · 27/08/2023 06:26

You could call his 'Gus' which I think is really cute

From your list I prefer Marlowe and August.
I like the spelling Marlow.

Do you like ..

I'm in Australia and I felt as though August has become so popular recently, my son's playgroup has a few

We dont "love" any of the names I suggested just names we threw around really hoping for a handsome kind of time that was a little different from the Alfie, jacks, William, Sebastian name

I liked August for ours but we were then going to go for Austin which is technically a shortened version of Augustin. I also liked Barney but thought it might be a name you have to "pull off" ie if he's not a confident person it might not work. In the end we went for Leo so nothing unusual there.

Although I love his name it is odd getting used to him having a popular name when our DD has an unusual one. I find it weird hearing so many other kids being called by the same name all the time...and have slight regret about that.

bettynutkins · 27/08/2023 07:13

I know a Marlowe. Really suits him. Would go with that for sure.

Quite like August, but not as much as Augustus, it’s getting popular though. Valentine I think might make for a tough childhood. Marlowe tends to be a low end girls name in the Uk, so seems like an odd choice to me. Teague just sounds odd to me.

August - Augustus, Augustine or Austin are better. AUG-ust or Au-GUST?
Valentine - Val?
Marlowe - surname. Too linked with a playwright and town.
Teague - surname. Is it said as Teeg or Taig?

None of those are great. Valentine is probably the least bad.

Suggestions: Austin, Lincoln, Tadhg, Marley, Chester

JudasPriest · 27/08/2023 12:07

I like August and am ambivalent to Marlowe but would spell it Marlow. What about October/Autumn names if you like unusual names and have an October baby?
Suggestions:
Autumn
Octavian
Hawthorne (Hawthorn tree associated with October)
Ruairidh (means ‘red’)
Clancy (means ‘red warrior’)
October
Russet
Auburn
Aurelius
Phoenix
Sylvan
Huckleberry ‘Huck’
Valerian
All these are cool names and October constellations:
Orion
Taurus
Cetus
Draco

JudasPriest · 27/08/2023 12:28

More suggestions I forgot to add:
Crispin
Lorcan
Auberon - makes me think of autumn
Hudson - the first name I think of when I see ‘Oxford’
