I love the name Jude - it reminds me of my favourite band! But when I mention it to people they always mention it’s a ladies name. Other options are Phoenix or Edwin ‘Eddie’ - a family name.

I’ve known a female Jude for around 25 years , so it seems normal to me as a unisex name.

I much prefer Jude, out of your 3 choices. It's widely used as a stand alone name for boys now.

If I heard of a female Jude I'd adsume it's short for Judith or Judy (I'd also assume her to be middle aged, as both are woefully out of fashion right now for young girls). I've never known a female who is just Jude, without it being short for anything.

I doubt there will be any female Judes in your child's school these days. If their classmates do know of any female Judes, they'd likely be middle aged women, as per my previous comments.

Even if their classmates did pick up that the name is unisex I doubt it will be an issue these days as they'll be surrounded by both male and female kids called Harley, Taylor, Harper, Eden, Bailey etc. Unisex names are very in now.

I only know one Jude. She's never known as anything else (other than Mum, Nan and Mrs Surname) despite her real name being Judith.

Jude is a boy's name but he risks being called Judy, which is nice as a girl's name.
