What boy names do you love but are you afraid to use?

I know a child called 'Wolfie' ... fab when you are 9 .. but as a 35 year old ?

Love that. I think he’d start to call himself/people would naturally start to call him Wolf as he got older.

Ooh or Taliesin. But I'm not Welsh, nor do I live in Wales, and I already have a child with an unusual Welsh name, so...

I love the look of this, but how do you pronounce it?

Speakerbox · 25/08/2023 08:56

Wolf, River, August, Beau, Bohdi

Samzzz · 25/08/2023 09:16

Most of these names are not ‘out there’ at all lol

Messiah. The look on everyone’s face told me to remove it from my list quick🤣

You know that's a ridiculous name though, don't you??

You don't think Messiah and Zephyr are 'out there'?

And I think i even saw Kentigern upthread. I mean, really.
That sounds like a village in the Cotswolds.

My sil wanted to name a potential son Buddy. My brother said 'absolutely not'

Valerie23 · 25/08/2023 09:35

D'Artagnan.

He is the patron saint of Glasgow (alternative name for St Mungo). There are quite a few churches and schools called St Kentigern's.

This is the crux of the issue with most of these 'out there' names, they either work for a cute baby but would be daft for a grown up man or vice versa.

We found a boys name so much harder to agree on in comparison to a girls name. You either chose a name and there will be six others in the class with the same name or it sounds pretty bonkers. Whereas there seem to be much more choice for girls.

Mine aren't out there but would be for us (unfortunately, as I love them!)

Samzzz · 25/08/2023 11:13

Zephyr and Buddy are not ‘out there’ names. If anything they are gaining popularity

MarshmaIIow · 25/08/2023 12:34

It’s a very bogstandard German middle-aged name.

Hector.

Was on our list but we weren't brave enough. He definitely isn't a Hector as it turns out anyway Grin. It won't be on the list if we have another boy.

I know 3 little hectors!

Songlines · 25/08/2023 19:55

DelurkingAJ · 24/08/2023 13:14

Toseland (I didn’t even bother as I could see DH’s face and I sneakily agreed it was too much)

I love this, too

newbeginnings20 · 25/08/2023 19:58

I know a digby and atticus through work.

Love both names.
